I too have a couple of H501S and am following this as well because I am about to get one. I wanted to stick with the Zino since I like Hubsan but the reviews are a real turn off compared to this bird. However it seems things might be going downhill here as well. Going to continue following along before I pull the trigger and buy one.

Pre-order #535 X8 was shipped out on Jan 25 (notification of shipment) and delivered on Feb 4.
This is my first drone using smart phone and set up following parameters;
Camera setting
1080P 60FPS (I do not have proper equipment to handle 4K video)
Quality HIGH
Color GENERAL

X8 setting
Gimbal pitch speed – reduce to 44% (from preset 100%) to have smooth tilting
Low Battery Warning – changed to 36% (from preset 30%) for safety flight

Firmware (updated on Feb 8)
FC1043G, Camera 1011E, Gimbal 1011B, Battery 1011, ESC 1016, NFZ 1000, Ultra Sonic 1008A, Vision 1037C.

I checked prop balance and it is well balanced as per attached photos.
Hope no vibration, strange sound in flight.

Weight of each parts are;
Prop (4 props) 32g
Battery 270g
X8SE (without Prop, Battery) 485g
X8SE with Prop 517g
X8SE with Prop, Battery 786g
X8SE/prop/battery plus FireFlyQ6/battery 847g

FireFly Q6 was directly mounted the top of body (with 950mAh battery) to see how gimbal compensates the movement of X8SE.
After the test flight, I will make side by side video of FireFly Q6 (1080P 60FPS Electric Image Stabilization ON).

Before flight test, made in house test of gimbal leveling as I see several X8SE video is not completely horizontal level.
I did gimbal calibration before taking the video as attached:

X8 Gimbal leveling (0 min 58 sec)

I put X8SE on the floor (flat enough) but gimbal is slightly horizontal tilting.
Hope this will be solved in future up-date.

Will do flight test probably next week.

Previously I modified AOSENMA CG035 with Walkera G-2D gimbal to have stable video but it was not enough as per below videos;

X8SE has 3-Axe gimbal which is way way better to have stable video.

That gold trapeziod shows up during a software update just before flying the drone on a range test.
No idea that the purpose of it is.

I downloaded the manual last night, it says it's a status box showing mode ( GPS ATTI etc ) status ( in flight, ready to takeoff etc. ) and "drone real-time power" but it doesn't seem to correspond to battery power or signal power so I don't know.

The total flight time counter seems all skewed up too.

That video (to me) is breathtaking. I've seen a few videos posted before from the islands and such from the Fimi X8 SE. So far to my untrained eye they all look amazing. I owned a Zino for a bit. They all look better than anything I could get with the Zino (not really speaking bad about the Zino, it's just the only thing I have to compare to). The Zino was fun, but for me range was really limiting...

^^^that video makes me want to go skiing Almost had to do a double take, at first it looks fake and then you see all the people in the distance skiing / moving about. All I can say is wow....

Well this drone looks promising. If I buy it in early March, how long will it take approximately to ship to Europe? What's the safest way to purchase?

App has no mandatory sign in (suck it DJI) and isn't encrypted. Firmware is not yet available in the fimi page (https://www.fimi.com/fimi-x8-se.html) but I already have it and it seems to support a bunch of nifty tricks
