Just can't build yet another Spitfire ?

Here's a suggestion which may be of interest to lovers of British WWII fighter aircraft :

Our club president has talked me into joining the club aircombat display team. We want to go to other clubs' flying days and do shows to entertain the crowd.

Now the one thing I do NOT want to do is build yet another Spitfire. Hey, I'm as patriotic as the next Brit, but there's a limit to the number of Spitfires you can build in your lifetime.

And it's got to be a British plane as all my German club buddies are building FW 190's and Me 109's.

Pouring over hundreds of 3-views, I discovered that by taking a model of a Spitfire it is simplicity itself to turn it into a Fairey Firefly :

Cut new tail surfaces, move the cockpit forward and make some new fuselage decking.
Lose some of the wing LE roundness, then either fudge a different lower nose or wing radiators and blunter tips depending on what mark of Firefly you want.

FINISHED ! And you have the most unusual WWII model on the field.

Will try and post some piccies when it's done.
