Well I maidened the Sea Scout .. and Crashed the Sea Scout Totally my fault .. I should have known it needed more up thrust on the motor being so high .. silly me .. had little or no elevator left (I was holding full up just o keep it in the air) and when I went into the turn back I lost it

Oh well, ONLY the nose got crumpled ..new nose and it will be like new .. seems to be my thing ..hey David !!! busting noses on airplanes .. still they always fly better with a crumpled nose eh mate

Looks like I owe young Chris a beer or two for climbing the VERY HIGH fence to retrieve it for me .. thanks mate

It's your Lockey day to have mates like that to scale a fence that high

Sure was Duke, one that I done want to repeat in a hurry, stuff knows what I would have done had Chris not been there

Here he is .. behind bars

And the result of the crash .. actually it wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been going nose in on tarmac

Spectacular nose job.
Maybe change the name to Elephant Seal ! ;>}

But seriously folks ....
As the CG for the Sea Jet is quite far back
I would caution that "maybe" you had the Sea Scout CG a bit too far forward
which will also negate a lot of your elevator.

Post 27 here shows a good bit of motor mount angle built into the design.

All I am saying is just don't blame everything on the Motor angle and consider
some other culprits. ;>}

BTW your repairs look better than my Virgin builds.

Best of luck tomorrow morning.

I am sure you are right David, most of mine do eh !!

Well it was a successful and uneventful re-maiden flew as it was supposed to do yesterday I gave the motor about 7 degrees upthrust and I would say its just about right as it didn't seem to climb at different speeds

It did however, want to drop its nose still .. I had about 10mm (3/8") up elevator at the inboard tip of the elevator/elevon .. and whist its common to have some up elevator on a flying wing (which this is really) I am not sure it should be so much .. AND still wanting to drop its nose .. it did glide quite well and only dropped its nose a little without any up elevator

Not sure if you can see it, but I did a dive test and it didn't tuck under so its not tail heavy, it did seem to want to recover ( a little) from the dive leading me to believe that it is maybe a little nose heavy

Nice

10mm up elevator I think is but much, on the Jetstream I have 6mm.
mabe you can move the CG a little back.

Jürgen
