Hello Neil,
I have 120 flights on my Prometheus 2 meter mono now, mostly happy except for the spin. I started CG at the front of wing tube, then lighter batteries got me to center of wing tube, now I have switched from 5000mah 5 cell batteries (2) to now 4500mah Gator RC packs. CG now just behind wing tube but still the spin isn't good. The spin either travels around an imaginary cylinder or straight down rolling depending on throws. Ideas?

Just for more information, plane weight is 10lb 12oz. I couple Aileron, Elevator and Rudder to a condition switch for spin and a similar but separate switch for snaps. I have tried many combinations, my snaps are good but spins are not. I can give throw angles if you like but I've tried so many I only have the latest attempt.

Spin presentation is highly dependent on end user (pilot) execution, throws, and CG. Post your throws (in degrees)... depending on what you come back with, I would suggest you start moving your CG forward in small increments.

Hello Neil,
Normal throws for my Prometheus 2m mono: Ail-10 degrees, Elev-12 degrees, Rud-11 degree
Snap throw: Ail-15 degrees, Elev-20 degrees, Rud-20 degrees.
Spin throw: Ail-13 degrees, Elev-11 degrees, Rud-19 degrees.
All throws are from neutral. User style Spin: bring model to a stop nose up 10 degrees approx. then as the nose drops go to max spin settings so as to avoid dropping wing early. Snap style: I pull in a curve instead of going diagonal to corner, I start favoring up elevator to get the break and curve into max aileron+elevator as per snap settings. My snap comes down to user style but the spin never looks stalled as it falls, it's flying as it drops. I have tried many combinations in the 120 flights so far to spin, using just rudder and elevator, and combinations of all three controls and I flew 12oz. more nose heavy for much of that time. Recently went to Falcon carbon vented spinner, Falcon V2 extra light carbon prop and carbon landing gear and wheel pants from F3A Unlimited for "Proteus", the sweep was to much so I tipped the mounting plate by 1/8" over the mounting plates 1.5" width. Gear is still swept 3/4" more than stock but no issue. I can move CG forward again if you think I'm going the wrong way.

Your snap and spin degrees look a little low to me...

If this were my airplane, I would have my rates more like:
Ail: 25 - 28 degrees
Elev: 15 degrees
Rud: 18 - 20 degrees

Most times I will spin the airplane using the same rates as my snap rates, again personal preference. I would try increasing your aileron and rudder rates. Increase both surfaces by 2-3 degrees at a clip and fly it each time. If you don't want to take your throw meter with you to the field and do lots of takeoffs and landings - pull up your dual rate screen while you are flying. Add a little bit to both, do a spin and evaluate.

Thank you Neil, may not have been the right thread to discuss set-up and flying of my SebArt Prometheus 2m but I knew you were active here. Thanks again, C Brown
