FA-40A, First Runs
First run, very rich break in run, of my nib 40A. This is a short clip of the run. The day's temperature was likely around 72F, iirc. Engine was running quite cool. I did run it a bit harder near end of tank. With Hi-Speed at about ~5.5 turns out, and my limiting throttle teavel, it likely never went past 7k rpm per instryction manual. i bought this engine off E-bay a while back. Finally made a mount for it This is a nice engine. It is unbelievably small for the power it makes: -Running Xoar 11x6 wood prop -10% Powermaster -New OS F plug (came with Saito SS) -Engine is make 'C' btw I noticed a new ignitor battery really helped with starting it. |

second tank
Second tank. It was about 63F out, the high for today, Saturday. We have gone through days of non-stop cold-ish rain lately. One day was as low as 42F thanks to Hurricanes on each side of USA. That's right, our Fall started out around 73F then, within a week, dropped to 42F. Wowzers! It went from Fall to Winter. It felt nice to sit outside & return to sunny Fall weather Running full throttle, and very rich. With Hi-Speed at about ~5 turns out, the engine finally started heating up. Maybe spinning at max 7,200 rpm. My tacho has trouble reading in the shade... I varied throttle at times and monitored temperature. It runs a bit smoother now and definitely picked up some power (vs initial run). This engine is tiny and finely crafted--like a jewel. 'It would be a joy to fly in a .25-size plane', i imagined as it ran. I am used to flying mini and micro foam planes. |

Saito 40
BunnyKiller -
I have two of these. They will wind up on a twin (Twinstar) that is being overhauled. The neat thing about these is that Saito made the mounting bolt dimensions match OS 25FX and clones. It's a no-brainer drop in, which is good for me! Also, they seem to really like an APC 11x5. Jim |

Nice! I have two as well. One is nib, still.
I plan to get flying glow planes next year. My next plane (likely an ARF) may fly the FA-40A... |
