Looking at the Rossi , it does not appear to be soft mountable, as there is no room to install a nose ring, which may not be a big deal to some. This is a fiberglass airframe, and using a soft engine mount does have advantages.

Definitely a good point, I would like to install a soft mount for that exact reason. Robert (Vertigo ll) did an outstanding job modifying his NR engine for a soft mount and nose ring. The link to the thread is below. I unfortunately dont have a lathe so this wouldn't be an option for now. Is there a difference in case lengths between the new NR engines and the classic black head Rossi's? I'm hoping maybe the old classics are a little longer.

I don't know Brent, the best choice for the H-9, P-7 ARF might be the YS Classic 60, given the stock fuel tank placement which won't effect the YS. I've got to sell a few of my collectibles before I can do that one !

NR 60 w/ the 9mm in-flight needle. I have the stock 17 oz. tank in the stock location and have had no problems with fuel draw. I can do any outside maneuvers.
APC 11x8 turning 14300rpm's on the ground. I did go to hose clamps as the zip ties just wouldn't hold.

Thanks for the info Peeldog! That set up you have on that P7 is what I am going for, except I'll be using a classic black head Rossi 60 and probably a Macs pipe set up. Did you have to add any weight for the correct CG or were you able to mount your radio gear far enough back to compensate for it? By the way, I have seen some of your other builds in previous threads on here and you do some excellent work! I am open to any advice that you may have to offer! Thanks.

I added only 2 oz. of stick on weights on the bottom of the stab. as the NR is a little heavier than the Evo engines.

My P8 built from Leo's kit. It has a Rossi 60 AERO w/ Mac's tuned muffler and NR header.

Man, that thing is sweet! Nice job on that P8, excellent finish work. What kind of paint do you use? Is that Rossi Aero the same vintage as the classic black heads?

I think so, It's from the late 80's. this one is also NIB. I have a sickness for Rossi's.
The paint is Klass Kote, also from Leo.

I think that is a great price for a good engine regardless. Just look at the prices of some other engines sold in eBay and the Classifieds. Many of those sellers want blood!!!

What would be a good pipe for the 60F-17, the 50400?
Which header for the P-7 ? 40450 ?

The NR R60F-17 is simply a 2017 version of the modern Rossi SE engine. The pre 2017 had blue anodizing whereas the 2017 has purple anodizing. I don’t believe the NR engine changed in any other way design wise though it is of course quite different from the classic black head 3-port Rossi. This one has 8-port sleeves if memory serves.

It’ll haul any classic of sub 8 lbs nicely!
