The new motor has plenty of power...hover and vertical is good..

Unfortunately my ESC went weird and intermittently the motor would screech and stop..then it would go again..
The motor is fine , possibly a slight improvement over the Gartt..

The weird ESC was binned and a new one works .....
SHAME, it wasnt the esc causing problems, its something as yet not figured out causing these cut outs.. and its only happening with my standard setup and these motors..
edit ...after everything I have concluded the motor is at fault..perhaps I had bashed it and bent something, who knows,
other motors same type and make are working fine...

Testing on a 2s the motor draw is 6.5A at max..

motors.... Racerstar are 22.5gms with 2mm gold connectors and heat shrink added... the gartt motors are 23.5gms with the same connectors..
with sunnysky at 25.5gms again with connectors.. the Racerstar win out...
A possible week spot on the racerstar is where the wires exit the motor, but that/they can be reinforced with a bit of glue..

Top to bottom...racerstar... Gartt.. sunnysky..
It was the thin arms on the sunnysky that gave problems bending too easily..
The Gartt and Racerstar are individually stronger..

After a cut back , a v3 quasar is now a mix of a v2 wing with a fat v3 body...

Modified for yet another trial...
the fat quasar vs a fat disco.. spans are about 18" ..running gear all the same

This one being a mix and is yet another version..
It has a v3 fat body which is a couple of inches longer than the span of its v2 wing.
Note this makes the rudder hang further out the back.. The body plus rudder being 24.5" long

And the wing itself is 1" longer than usual, its chord is 19" to the rear of the elevons at the root, with an 18" span

Weight without its lipo is 170g...6oz...
the lipos I use are either 450 2s @ 26.3g or 500 2s @32.3g

For comparison the 18" disco weighs in at 150g without lipo.

they both have landing gear...

the setup is my standard one... racerstar motor 2304-1850.. 8x4.3 sf prop.. 3x TGY 1440a servos.. 12A ESC and a small RX.. on a 2s 450-500 lipo...

Note... with this setup I can also run on 3s with no problems , other than an excess of power and higher speed....lol.. I stick with 2s for indoor flight, that is fast enough..

and over powering them is fun

edit.. my 22" Qv2 remains my favourite ... with its smooth flying , the smaller ones fly fine but can be a bit too responsive, less stable

yet another variation ..this one was a 22" disco, but I didnt like it much so I went chop chop on it to give it a delta shape.. I will figure out what to call it after its been flown..lol
