I hope that too as 50% of the 5G WiFi bands used on Chinese quads are not working with normal smartphones sold in the EU. You mostly need to "hack" by using a Chinese brand phone such as Xiaomi and set the regional settings to China but that needs reset to factory defaults on some ROMs

This rig uses 5.8 wifi not 5.8 analog...at least from the description.

According to the description here in this thread the RC control is also 5.8 but the banggood link doesn't specify it.

It's going to be a "watch and see" kind of thing with this one. I pre-ordered the yuneec mantis q (have a yuneec q5004k that never let me down) but if this performs well it may be something to look at playing with.

Yikes. I am assuming the 5.8g compatibility meant video it has a vtx that I can use with goggles. That is not the case ?

Majority of the time on these types of drones the video feed is 5.8 wifi. This is fine for slow flying AP.

It has a vtx to send the video back to the tx (with vrx inside) but again it is based on wifi and not analog (according to the descriptions).

You might be able to grab the feed from the tx somehow and connect it to your goggles if your goggles has av input. But now your getting to the point of you might as well just do a dedicated ground station versus modifying the controller.

There are two "5G" options, the regular 5G WiFi and the "old" 5.8G Anolog FPV, the new Zino is "smart-app" based drone so 99.99% will uses digital WiFi which means 5G WiFi and that is not compatible with analog 5.8G FPV.

Unfortunatly for some phones, as soon as the SIM card is inserted, android reselect the EU area even if you installed a oversea ROM ... So this trick is not working 100% of the time ...

Yes, that is also true and actually happens to most "known" brands such as Huawei, Samsung, etc. There are still some no-names such as Elephone, Ulephone, Umi, etc. that still ask before starting. Another trick is to start the phone without a sim after a factory defaults and select the region, then insert the SIM and hope for the best, non the less it's a pain in the .....

I contacted Hubsan to be sure they have to pay attention on this topic... To be able to select the area via the appz for example. What is is confirmed with the zino, no USB thetering capacity ... only connexion via WiFi ....

Being depending on the phone WiFi is not that great, reminds me of the H501A app freezes an occasional lag... At least they could add a FPV output like the H501A which had both WiFi and regular FPV built into.

Here's a closeup of the app, which looks like the same for their older models.

There are far more people around with smartphones then those who have 5.8gHz FPV stuff like a lot of us ... of course they'll go with smartphone connection. Looks like an interesting bird.

Yeah, but why not have the 5.8 reciever in the remote, and just feed video through the cable to the app? Or is that not the way any of this would work?

You often do connect your smartphone via a cable to the remote/transmitter That's how you get better range. Toygrade quads however rely on direct signal to the phone, thus limiting range.

Yes my goggles have a video input. I wonder if this has a video out that could make this work. Seen anything in the zino specs?
