Hi everyone.

First plane from 3d Labs.

How do you get your 3D printers to print these bridges without using supports?

Thanks

The recommended ones from HobbyKing, but it looks like they are out of stock again.

Thanks everyone for the comments on the scheme, it was a combo of paint and vinyl. The plane was printed in clear High Heat PLA, sprayed with silver Rust-Oleum 2X and then trimmed in blue and red Rust-Oleum 2X paint. I created graphic files for the vinyl and used 2mil conforming vinyl that sticks really well to the printed surface.

Rust-Oleum is an enamel-type spray-paint can? I can't find that specific brand where I live so I need to find a substitute as similar as possible.

Is this the best method for finishing a 3D printed plane?

I'd take a look at your local automotive store, get a silver but not metallic with the flakes. It took 1 1/2 regular spray cans to paint the F-86. The automotive ones might be a bit smaller.
With clear High Heat PLA and silver paint it should hold up to the sun pretty well. Left a sample print with silver paint out in the 70-80 degree sun for about 30 minutes and it stayed pretty cool.

PIMA Girl

I didn't want to use the HobbyKing gear, so I tried the f-4 gear from Motion RC. Freewing 90mm f-4 Phantom...
The Freewing f-4 is about nine pounds, so I thought that was close enough to the printed f-86. 8lbs 5 oz. is the weight of my f-86, that's without batteries.
Some Pics.
The Freewing gear need a shim to make the strut bend back enough to fit the well.
I have a piece of credit card in that spot for now.

The front leg is the HobbyKing retract with a Freewing f-86 strut mounted to the pin, fits nice.
Looking forward to the first flight, I have a Changesun 90 and the fandrive 1500Kv motor on 8S
I have not run it up to test Amps and Watts yet.

Looks great. Thanks for the info on the freewing legs. They will be much easier to get hold of.

Hey,

I printed and fly the Mig 15 from 3dlabprint and Would like to use the RC conponents in the Sabre.
EDF is a Wemotec with YEP100A.

Do you think this will work ?

Best regards,
Kai

I don't see why not, the Mig is a little smaller. I printed the Mig but did not set it up to fly. I did not like the small battery area on the Mig.
The f-86 has plenty of room for batteries...

The latest Mig 15 BIS is similar to the F-86. Plenty of room for batteries.

What´s about the flight weight?
And the weight without the battery?
When do you plan to fly?

Or here's a link to 3Dprintlab https://3dlabprint.com/shop/f86asabre/

I plan to fly soon, The weight of this plane is 8lbs 5 ozs without the batteries.
I do want to check Amps and Watts with the meter before flight.
Also, the HobbyKing retract needs to be reversed,> Freewing retracts and HobbyKing are not working together so well.
