My 30cc Ultra-Stick was doing the same thing. I couldn't get the plug cap on any further so I used a small hose clamp to force a better connection between the spark plug boot and the plug hex and all the interference went away. I'm not sure why they use such difficult plug caps but they are definitely a weak point for us inexperienced with gas electronic ignition planes guys. There has to be a better way to do this. I push so hard it's deforming the metal plug cap but it just won't click on any further than it is where it gives off the interference. |

I was convinced it was right, but would you believe, it wasnt on fully, seems like it only goes on the hex of the plug properly in one orientation, maybe the cap is deformed? I'm moving the receiver a way to be sure, I would never have tried that so many thanks, hope it's the solution!

Can these retracts be used with the stock struts?

Looks like that is the replacement unit without the screws, struts and other accessories.

Maiden today. Lifted off about 3/4 throttle nice and smooth. I didn't notice much yaw with power if any. Tail came up nicely but it did look a little more nose low than I expected. When I added a little up elevator it jumped in the air. Once airborne it only took 3 clicks of left aileron trim and none for elevator or rudder. Did some pretty aggressive acro, loops, cuban-eights, barrel and aileron rolls and of course, high speed passes. Clean stalls produced a very abrupt break left but easily recovered without power. Dirty was more mushy with lazy break nearly 3/4 aft stick (I have about 16 mm throw and flew in high rates the entire time). Landing was very predictable with descent controlled by power. I did get the bounce/porpoise though on our grass runway it was minimal. Second flight I moved CG back slightly. Back of the battery is even with the bulkhead just aft of the two forward servo cutouts. Five clicks down and that was it. Really nice flier and fast fast fast.
I'm using the E-flight retracts with 3 3/4" Robarts, fixed tail wheel, Rimfire 1.20, CC Phoenix Edge 130, RoaringTop 5500 mAh 70C 6S, turning APC 17x8E. Spektrum AR9030T receiver, Spektrum A6380 x7 servos. I'm also using a Western Robotics Battery Buffer fed by CC BEC 2.0 and 2S 800 mAh Lipo. Weight turned out to be 12 lbs 4 oz. I downloaded the data from the ESC and it showed 2841 max Watts and 124.6 Amps and 11,000 rpm (highest rpm was on engine runup prior to take-off. Flight only got to about 10K rpm). Highest watt and amp was when I cobbed the power just after getting airborne on the maiden. Second flight only got about 2300 watts max and 100 amps. Most of the data showed in the 2000 watt range, 80 amps, and 9k rpm. This is the first time using the data logging so I'm a little skeptical but the graphs look impressive. Flights were 5 minutes and I put about 2500 mAh back in the batteries so I'll start bumping up the flight times. |

Why? It flys fine and I like a little weight to warbirds, my Oscar was so light I almost added weight just to get it to fly more like a warbird than a lightly loaded 3d floater.
