Review of Jumper T12 OpenTX 16CH Radio Transmitter w JP4-in-1 Multi-protocol RF

Review of Jumper T12 OpenTX 16CH Radio Transmitter with JP4-in-1 Multi-protocol RF Module for Frsky JR Flysky

"One transmitter to rule (control) them all"
My new transmitter just came. Its Jumper T12 OpenTX 16CH Radio Transmitter with JP4-in-1 Multi-protocol RF Module.

Transmitter feels nice in hand, and more important sits nice in hand.

Best things on this transmitter are:
  • small, light, compact and east to carry around
  • multiprotocol RF module included
  • JR/FrSky compatible module bay - you can use FrSky R9M or TBS Crossfire modules
  • runs on OpenTX - best transmitter SW available - OpenTX SW runs on very popular FrSky transmitters like Taranis X7, X9, X9D etc... and also possibility to use Companion TX on PC for creating, modifying, backing up and transferring models to other OpenTX running (Taranis) Transmitters

I am looking forward to using it on the longer run, because,
beside using its 4-in-1 Multi-protocol RF Module I am also getting FrSky R9M RF module so I will be trying to fly some long range quad I am building with Jumper T12. It will be interesting I hope.

In my RC pilot life I started with some really cheap 4CH FlySky stuff, than iRangeX iRX-i6X, than moved Turnigy 9XR with FrSky XJT module, than FrSky Taranis X7 and my latest and greatest FrSky Taranis X9D SE.

Now some more info on Jumper T12:
the T12 version does indeed support Crossfire and in CRSF mode with LUA script support
and most importantly WITHOUT any hardware modification for end users.

The T12 platform is shipped with the JP4-in-1 Multi-protocol module.
With TBS Crossfire or any other compatible 2.4ghz JR Module, Analogue or Long Range UHF system,
the T12 is ready to rock out with its socket out!

A standard LCD screen was used along with the T8SG V2 butter smooth V2 gimbals.

The T12 comes standard with a neck strap and AA battery tray.
Can also be powered with any LiPO or LiFE battery of a compatible size.
( Which means that users do not need to source their own uncommon sized Li-ion round cells or a round cell charger.)

The T12, when paired with the Jumper JP4-in-1 offers seamless intergration between the OpenTX software and module
meaning protocals can be accessed and selected directly from the software GUI.
Crossfire users can setup their equipment via the OpenTX LUA scripts.

no complex wiring or “hacking” to get running.
The Jumper JP4IN1 module is also upgradable via USB input

In the box:

1x Jumper T12 Radio Transmitter
1x JP4-in-1 Multi-protocol RF Module
1x Battery Strap
1x USB Cable

Pros:
  • price - performance/price ratio is huge + future possibilities of transmitter with different LR modules

Cons:
  • Quality of speaker - Jumper should use speaker from Taranis X9D SE
  • Sliders have no marked center position
  • Travel of sliders is too big - again Jumper should use slution as on Taranis X9D SE

Conclusion:
I can highly recommend Jumper T12.
It feels really nice in hand and I had no problem flying with it and using it for the first time and "out of the box". This is my really first and second flight with it (so no time to get used to it):
First is flown on 110mm flyfox with Frsky XM+ receiver

Jumper T12 - Frsky XM+ - Hobbycool FlyFox 110 (4 min 45 sec)

and second is flown on 210mm 5" quad with Frsky XSR receiver:

Jumper T12 - Frsky XSR - HobbyCool 2207 2350kv motors freestyle flight - Realacc X210 (3 min 44 sec)

Gimbals are smooth and pleasant to use. I didn't mod stock tension of gimbals. I could do smooth flying, only I need some time to adjust my muscle memory to do perfect flips and rolls.
I fly with transmitter in my hands and pinching gimbals and ergonomy of T12 is more than enough for me.
Everyone has its own taste in transmitters, it depends if you are using strap or holding transmitter in hand, or if you are pincher or thumb flyer. So for ergonomy I can only speak for myself.

Suggestion for next Jumper transmitter models:
Great addition could be charging of battery inside the transmitter via adapter (could be sold separately) and plug on transmitter (like on Taranis x9D).

Aesthetically, the QX7's nicer looking. That cream color is awful. It looks like it's tiny, though, and that's kinda' cool. I'm gonna' keep an eye out on this one.

Color is OK in real life, for me better than standar Jumper yellow.

I had Q X7. X7 is big and chunky. T12 looks more like shrinked X9D, espaciali in the back with this rounded ridges for better grip

X9D

vs sharp X7 ridges

Hi guys. My Jumper t12 haven't arrived yet. But I have a question.
Does this FrSky Taranis bracket feets to Jumper t12?
UPD: sorry if this place is not suitable for my question. Let me know if there is any other place where I can place it.

Hey fella,
did you manage to bind it correctly?
I've also bought the T12 and R9M module but when I go through the binding procedure, if I select and execute the "Bnd" command (page 2 of model pages) it does not blink or make any sound either...

Any advice fellas? Thanks in advance.
PS: using the crappy multimodule shipped with the T12 itself, binding command does work correctly (blinking and beeping while looking for a receiver).

Cheers.

Look at the video I've uploaded for Banggood for better understanding:
