Powerline 1015 motor and Stuff

This is an excellent F5J motor that weighs 75 grams (as I recall) I had it fitted to an Explorer 2 F5J but at our 7000' altitude it didn't have enough thrust when the wind came up. It's a really good motor often used in F5J which was my original intent. This motor has a 5mm gearbox shaft and so I bought a Georgi Mirov Spinner and prop(s). The 17/7 prop is beautiful and really fits closely to the fuse but again not a good choice up here where the air is thin. Bought new all of this is over $300. Motor has about 20 flights on it and the spinner and prop much less. Motor leads are original length.

Randy,
What's the bolt pattern on the gearbox? I have a mount for a P29 gearbox. Will it fit?

What I did on my Xplorer was to cut off the PNC Powerline mount which took 1/2" off the fuse and install a new PNC mount for the P29 which fit my Neu 1102 motor. Hate to have a perfectly good PNC mount go to waste but it all worked fine.

I don't mean to barge in on your thread here a p-29 mount is deep a power line Mount is shallow looking from the front it would be pretty hard to make a p29 Mount work for a powerline motor.
To remove a PNC mount you can put a big bolt in from the back side with the nut on the front and heat up the bolt until the J-B Weld get soft and you can pull it out and save your mount

I do stilll have the Powerline mount however it is encapsulated in the front 1/2" of the Fuse. It was glued in with JB Weld and so I suppose it is possible to heat it up to soften the JB Weld and remove it. I didn't think to use the bolt suggestion at the time.

So I will include it with the motor, GM Spinner and prop....deal?

Randy,

Sorry but I think I am going to have to pass. After a little more research I have concluded that I would need a 1025 Powerline if I were to go that way. I am expecting an AUW of 2000g+ and the 1015 just wouldn't have enough oomph cut it. I would just end up in the same boat you are in now.

Thanks, Wayne

I'm no expert but 2000g would need at least a Neu 1105 or 1107. I don't know that a 1025 would haul that up the way you want but others would know.

Good luck! Randy
