Yeah, all my 4s packs are hard case. But I don't really have anything against soft packs, though.

If anyone is thinking about getting one of these, Tower has them on sale for $250, and if you use the coupon code SPR50, you can get another $50 knocked off, so $200 shipped (not sure about taxes, that depends on the State you're in it seems).
I have NO idea what parts support will be like if something breaks, but maybe other 1/8th scale truggy parts will work for certain things? |

hobbyking sabertooth is on sale for $196 shipped. reviews seem good regarding durability, parts support has always been hit/miss. wonder which one would be the better gamble? |

I can't say I really know that much about either one, but I have a feeling the Muckraker is going out, so parts will eventually dry up. Hobbyking has had the Sabertooth around forever and it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere, so parts shouldn't be an issue over the long haul. Of course, this is all speculation on my part. The Sabertooth does require a radio though, so keep that in mind.

got plenty of radios but if the Muck comes with one that's a $20-30 bonus.
I had the BZ-888 which shares a lot with the Sabertooth and it was a great buggy. only problem i had was extreme wear on the drive axle cups, but replacements were cheap. they killed that buggy off but kept the ST. I'm looking for a truggy and would get the ST if parts were sure to be available for a long while, but i keep hesitating because hobbyking |

WOW! That is a super price DC. Very tempting.
Honestly, if I had the cash I'd buy 2 at the $200 price. Sell the radio, esc, motor, etc out of one and keep it for parts and bash the other. I'd imagine you could keep the truck up and running for awhile with a whole extra part truck. Still a gamble though...I think the platform is on the way out too (the HH trucks, not the Sabertooth). Makes no sense why they introduce a product and only keep it for what, 2 years or so maybe? |

But still, seems silly to me to design a platform and plan to stop selling it. Who knows what happened! Quote:
Yeah making it a street rig would be cool and if you stay off the curb you shouldn't break anything. $200 for a 4x4 1/8th is cheaper than some 2wd brushed models. I say go for it! Edit** I was looking back at this thread and someone mentioned the ForceRC stuff being a rebrand of other stuff...is this truck a rebrand/clone/whatever-you-call-it of something else I wonder?? It would be absolutely insane of them to develop a brand new platform and potentially be discontinuing it after a year! That's going to make owners of these trucks not like the brand, and make them way less likely to buy anther product in the future! |

I was thinking the same thing. If the truck is made by someone else but called a different name then that might help parts support!

Horizon rebrands other stuff (primarily in the ECX line), but I think they were more careful to choose vehicles that they could keep a steady supply of replacement parts for. I don't know who the OEM is for the 1/8 scale stuff, but the Hammerjaw and that larger scale crawler are HSP vehicles. Fortunately, there's good parts suport for those vehicles through other channels, primarily because they share so many parts with the very popular Redcat E10 and Gen7. Some of these other vehicles that don't have a popular counterpart might make parts support very difficult. |

The Force RC Muckraker is a FS Racing rebrand (Leopard Truggy). Shares parts with Duratrax 835E and FS Racing E9.5.
