Funtana S90 Hangar 9 rebuild and conversion
Hi !
My brother in law asked me if I would like to take a look at a crashed Funtana S90 that was going to be trashed. I said yes obviously and now it is on my table and I've started to rebuild it. I am planning to rebuild it very light and will try to fly it on 6s with an Emax BL 4030/10 and 17x10 prop (1300 watts). The previous owner said that it was flying with a .90 until it had a crash some years ago. It was a nasty crash... The front disapeared, one wing is broken, no cowl, no wing tube, rudder is broken, canopy is broken, etc... No pieces from the missing parts also... But been able to reproduce two of the front bulkheads because the previous owner (Mr. Marques) gave me also some plywood and there were some old templates printed with the sun light ! So lets see if this great plane will fly again ! Ruben |

Hi !
Started slow with the canopy. It was broken at the front. I've taken off the oracover and rebuilt it using some depron and balsa. After some sanding, it is ready to cover again. |

Hi !
The rudder was a simple fix. It was just a matter of apply some glue on a broken balsa rib and cover again. Put some blue tape to cover the damaged oracover. |

Hi,
The wing was easy to fix. There were two broken ribs and damage on balsa sheeting. Cutted two new ribs, applied a new balsa sheeting and covered the wing again. |

Hi !
The fuselage sides where in bad shape... I've draw a new template over plywood using the actual pieces and some imagination... Cutted with a band saw the new parts. Glued the new parts and reinforced the joints. Also had some bits that were missing in the inside. |

Hi,
The two front bulkeads were cutted in plywood using the templates printed with the sun light over the years. The original piece must had been lying over the plywood for a long time... |

Hi !
The wing tube was missing. The original was in alluminum but I wanted something lighter. Found a carbon fishing rod on trash and just had to cut it to correct size. Still need to roll some paper, PVA and glass fiber to achieve the correct diameter. It is starting to become a Funtana again... |

Thanks Tony ! I will check the clearance. I've bought a carbon landing gear and it is a bit taller then the factory one.

Hi !
I've finished the landing gear. I knew that the factory structure was a bit weak so built up a new one. It is both strong and light. |
