Recoil 26, my first boat

Hey all good to be here. I have a Recoil 26 coming this week and am very excited. I’ll take some pics as I ordered a few custom decals.
I have a Traxxas Stampede truck and a small RC copter from Horizon, so I love RC. Always wanted a boat. My friend got one last week, so I had to join him after tried it.
I got the Recoil 26 for 285$ over the Barb wire 2, because 110$ Just got me more boat. I do eventually want a 17” though. But for driving in the Lake and such this should work.
Picked up some Atomik Marine tape and extra battery for 49$ And some dynamite grease/with gun.
Which leads me to my question. I use SMC for my Stampede. What batteries should I look at other than Horizon Hobby brand. I have seen 5500 mah with SMC and Gen Ace but not 3300ish mah. I know an upgrade is needed to run the bigger battery. Kicking myself for not just upgrading to the 5500 battery and counterbalance weight. Now Thinking I should just run the crap out of these two 3200mah batteries then Upgrade. Since I paid for the extra one, but I feel like I need a 3rd battery. These run times don’t seem long. I plan to run stock and then make some mods as I go. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks guys!

i would just get like some 30c turnigy lipos or i have had good results with floureon lipos and you can get either of these brands pretty cheap .
the recoil was my first boat ,you will love it .it may need a better tx/rx setup .the included one runs out of range so be careful and watch that .
my boat would stutter when i got close to out of range .i changed over to spektrum and never looked back .
grease the shaft like every other run .
i put a octura m440 on mine and get 32 mph out of the boat .i tried a couple different props but the m440 was the best for me .

oh yeah ,before i sold mine i tried the x440/3 -3 blade prop (cnc version) on it and got 36 mph .i suggested that to another recoil user online and he is happy with that prop .
if you go that way watch the temps .we are getting into the cooler months soon so you should be good .
dont be afraid to run it flat out ,the self righting works good .
fun boat

Looks like it comes with a Spektrum radio now, so I wonder if that issue is gone.
Yea I will check out those batteries and the prop. Thanks!

yeah 30-40c lipos for this boat .when you get up to bigger boats with inrunner motors 50c and up is required

edit- went to look ,its the same radio .just be careful ,if it starts to judder or lose contact with the boat just replace it with a better spektrum system .dx2e can be had cheap .

post a picture of the tx when you get it .but it looked the same .

Awesome. Are these the correct batteries? I see gen aces carried them also. Also I need something with the XT60 connector, right?

the gens are 25 with 50c burst .the floureon are 40c but they never list max c rate .cant go wrong with either one really .i even used eflite 30c ones .the demand on this motor isnt that high .
30c and up be fine .even those gens will work .

heres some cheap decent lipos .that boat uses ec3 connectors so if you dont solder keep that in mind when lipo shopping.
these are cheap so grab like 3 and your good . full throttle running will get you like 5 minutes ,go easy and you might get 6-7 minutes .

shipped out the usa store too.

Received my boat today. Pretty sweet, but I must say the controller looks pretty cheap and like someone said I can imagine from the way it looks, I think it’s going to have a range to match. I decided to spend more on this boat for better parts, but it’s still Hobby grade and realize other boats are much more $$. What’s a good controller to use?

Also I have a SMC universal charger that I use for my Traxxas Stampede. The stock Recoil battery charger charges from the balancing harness. Can I use my SMC charger? Or do I need the EC3 connector along with the balance harness connected?

that cable will work with your charger "if" your charger has a lipo setting .ideally you want to use a balance charger .theres cheap ones out there with decent quality like this one .
very widely known and used even by myself
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...cessories.html

if you can spring a few more bucks these are good chargers and i have one of these as well .
great charger here .....this one lets you select how many amps you want to use to do a storage charge
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...e-charger.html

the cheaper one can charge at 5 amps but can only do a storage charge at 1 amp .this more expensive one lets you select how many amps you want to run during a storage charge .

for instance putting a storage charge on a lipo with 1 amp can take an hour ,with 5 amps 30 minutes or less .

makes a difference if you got a few lipos to do .

also never store a fully charged lipo more then a day or 2 .i prefer not more then a day myself .
but at the end of a day i always put my lipos back to storage charge .

the reason we use balance chargers is to "balance" the cells so they all stay the same .a charger that chargers without balancing can leave a cell lower then the rest or even higher then the rest .none of which is good for the lipo .

your hooked now ,so just get a good charger from the get go .you will be glad you did.

even a traxxas setup out of a spartan is good . but in general spektrum is widely used for good budget quality .

Ok so the controller and the receiver on the boat would need to be replaced. Ok
