OT: Surf's Up!

There's been no wind in Maui for the last few days, but the surf has been kinda big...

I scanned this from the front page of this morning's Maui newspaper.

One guy reportedly ate it and got both legs broken. Wouldn't ya love to paddle out into something like that just once?

Umm.... no.

My company has been filming at Jaws yesterday & today. We have a cameraman in a heli, and another in a boat. For the guy in the boat it's his first time filming surfing. He practically had a heart attack on day one.

Wow...What a trip!
I'm always amazed by big waves...

I wonder why they're so big when the wind is down.
Is there a big storm approaching?

In rincon one of the few places where they have god honest big wave sufing this side of the atlantic. I went body boarding in some 15 footers and thought I was going to die. puny by cali hawaii standards but terrifying to me he he. it was all I could do to clear the shore break for gods sake
