Some tips:
To mount on a 30.5x30.5 mm stack, you CANNOT use any of the holes on the board. You must mount the board to the included backing plate(s) and then mount the backing plate to the 30.5x30.5 mm stack. You can use 3 holes on the PCB for 20x20mm mounting. (dingrrcg) Firmware update file download page: https://www.caddxrc.com/info/turtle-...are_i0033.html Edit: firmware file was taken out. Latency tested by Gal Kramer:
rschoi_75: "I recently had a case of black screen w/ osd on the caddx turtle v2. I saw a few pages back that some other people were experiencing the same thing after updating the firmware. I didn't update anything, so I was at a loss as to why my black screen of death occurred. Turns out the culprit was a loose surface mount cap caused by over tightening the nearest M2 nut (see picture below). I somehow managed to save the cap and soldered it back on with my iron, but it did the trick. The video came back, and it seems to be working fine. This might not solve everyone's issue, but just fyi, it's good to periodically check the board for physical damage and loose components." deeh_46: "... made a protector for microsd card. stl file attached. Print with flexible filament. Rotate X or Y axis 180 degrees in slicer. No need support." Firmwares 2019 Jan 17 * Caddx implemented support for the RunCam Device protocol via their last firmware update. Please note however that only the turtle v2 correctly supports UART controls as the v1 had some incompatible connections on the board despite having UART pads. * firmware fixes the horizontal lines issue in the HD recordings. Reserved for any interesting info (...) |

Lets hope Caddx version will not have those annoying vertical/ horizontal lines/bands in top left/right corner as Runcam Split has:

Interested in the latency of the FPV feed above all else personally.

any chance for "record on arming" or a gyro activated record chip, so it records only while flying, then stops after landing/crashing? |

It would be cool if Caddx partnered with a quad manufacturer for their initial launch by offering a package deal ready to go combo. There are a few good candidates in the 2-3" brushless micro and/or 5" brushless quad.
I'm sure a lot of people are only interested in the camera itself, but I'm not yet good enough to scratch build a quad to use this new camera in. Help me out Caddx! ![]() |

I'm looking forward to this one for sure. Surely runcam will be launching a split mini 2 anyday now, hopefully addressing the issues around FPV performance. I'm waiting to jump in on one of these, hope it will be the caddx that is worth having.

Announced (no preorder) on BG:

20mm?
I wasn't sure if they had a 30.5mm version and a 20mm version like the split but looking a little closer at the board (attachment) it looks like 20mm in 3 holes with the 4th offset diagonally to fit on 30.5mm hardware. Good innovation
I think the most compelling argument for the over the split (for now) though is the single layer board - this is the only thing that has been holding me back. Please let the FPV and recording be good - in that order! |
