EE Lightning F6

Thought it was time to dust off my old own design EE Lightning F6 and give it a flight as its been around 4 years since I last took it out.

Still goes just as I remember and wakes up all the locals so not to popular in the club. The landing was a bit hurried as I lost power and normally come in with power on but got away with just popping the magnetic hatch.

Stats are scale 1:13, wing span approx. 32 inch , weight 3.5 pound,

Power 6s 1500ma battery, motor is an EDF 1850Kv , 60 amp ESC , 6X6 CAM prop , the motor is mid mounted with an extension driveshaft.

It is as true to scale as I could get and can be a little tricky if speed is not kept up in the turns as it will drop the nose. I have added a 3 axis gyro this year and it does seem to tame the handling especially on launch as it used to torque roll quite bad.

Hi Matt have a few pictures from 2 builds using two different methods for the body, One wet moulded balsa over foam core the other strip plank.

The strip/foam nose plank looks very rough as this was a quick rebuild and I used a hot air gun to remove the original covering resulting in a number of burnt areas. I do have better pictures somewhere but cannot track them down at the moment.

Just thought I would post the vid of the last but one flight of my Lightning , should not have gone for that just one more flight a failing light was not good and a total loss resulted.

Anyway enjoy and the re-make is nearly complete
