Not an unknown practice here in the US. The now defunct RCM magazine published at least 4 or perhaps more model plans that used corrogated cardboard as the primary building material. I know other designs were published in other magazines as well. Worked OK for glow power, with suitable fuel proving. Even easier with electric power.

Foam is more popular due to the inherent characteristics of the material.

My first article about the possibility of making a cardboard is quite a decent plane, caused a mixed reaction of the brothers pilots.
I have described the construction of this aircraft on some forums here too.

Now I know how to work with cardboard. I wanted to make a big plane like a glider. I didn't make them big.
The wing will be cardboard, large size. Just the size of other furniture box.
The corners are made of cardboard, it does not reinforce, for easy Assembly.
Vertical walls between the stringers made of cardboard.

I mark the position of the set of glue miss the lower plane and glue. When glued to the bottom of the skin, cut through the position of the servos and Aileron, but not to the end. To avoid falling hatches. Then cut and cut through

Doubted the strength and replaced the connection to the aluminum pipe in 8mm.
Cut off the ailerons. All open edges are taped Kraft paper.Hung the ailerons on the hinges.
Deviations-up 30, down 90 degrees approximately.
Wings are ready.

Not good durability "pure cardboard", had to be combined with plywood and sticks. The fourth option, the previous three in the trash..
The first design error, it was necessary to root the ribs and the side walls of the fuselage to drill at the same time, tortured to adjust the holes.
Assembled part of the fuselage to fasten the wings.
Set the wings, all right.
Closing the tail boom on three sides. Inside the partition, the holes for the Bowden.
Bowden from ear sticks. The joints are glued fix.

Determined the position of the servos and dragged through the Bowden wire control 1mm. All is well and moves without complications. Taped the top cover, pressed.
Made all-round miner, inner set, coal tube in 4mm.
