Whoop FC with frsky Rx osd and vtx control all built in from betafpv
Whoop with vtx control and osd with frsky Rx built in on one board from betafpv WOW that's a lot to cram in and I just had to try one out.
https://betafpv.com/collections/flig...rsky-rx-osd-v2 Here is my review and a video of it flying my b03 whoop with bs2 osd camera.
Some pictures of the build to give an idea of how easy this is, basically the motors just plug in as does the battery so very simple to get it flying. For osd I needed to solder cam and vtx wires, my bs2 didn't have vtx control so I couldn't test that but it's got the connection there so just another solder pad to connect that wire. It's on betaflight 3.2 and all I did was set my preferred channel order and rates and few tweaks on the osd. Bound to my frsky taranis in D8 mode easily with a nice big button that's easy to press. Everything worked first time and the b03 flew great on stock settings , no need to change pids or filters. Quality of fhe board looks good. It has improved fets which allow more current tonne drawn so bigger motors and better efficiency is claimed, I certainly noticed the quad flew well even right down to the last drop of power from the battery. With antenna vertical I had no range issues flying around house/garden. The osd worked nicely giving me access to pids and rates etc as per betaflight and it's very nice to have voltage and timer displayed whilst flying. For racers whom have a aio camera that has vtx control like smart audio this will be great for setting up channel for racing but finding a camera with it on small enough is a problem right now, akk do one but it weights 5g or so and doesn't fit in a whoop canopy... Maybe there is going to be something released soon though and then I will try this feature out. Anyways the osd and frsky Rx is great and made such an easy small build and I'm happy with that. Pros Small light Fully featured Frsky Rx built in Osd build Vtx control possible Better fets. Cons None. Suggestions for improvement Soldering required for osd connections ( maybe a plug and socket would be easier for some users but not a big deal ) Antenna is stiff and might be better with a thin flexible type but again it's a personal preference. Betafpv should make a whoop aio camera with vtx control (probably will soon I guess ) Conclusion. Great little FC with everything needed on one board, a very easy way to get a fully featured whoop from your cheap toy whoops. Racers will love the vtx control and osd is very useful. Frsky Rx works well. A good buy imo. Get it here https://betafpv.com/collections/flig...rsky-rx-osd-v2 |

I had a request to range test this and compare with xm frsky Rx.
Ok range tested in my usual way of putting the tx on the chair in my living room and walking down the street with full power needing to penetrate a few walls. With xm I got 15 paces further so range is better on xm but that I expected. However the range was still further than I expected on the betafpv board , further than my silverised b03 builds which I fly happily and don't worry about the range , obviously not long range but good enough for whooping. |

So f4 in a whoop?!?!? Seems crazy but then again why not? I will be trying one out in a whoop and reviewing it like I did with the F3 V2 which was good giving my tired b03 a bit of a boost with those better fets. Interested to see what a f4 can do ... I might make another bamboo skewers build with it too to see how it performs on a powerful 8mm build with light efficient frame. How fast things change these days.... |
