Vakkuum thermo forming in the easyiest way

Hey guys ,
here you can see a very easy way to yakuum forming foam. The heater is from a electric barbecue and the vakkuum is from a vakuum cleaner.

Depron tiefziehen/ foam vakuum thermo forming (0 min 55 sec)

Nice setup. Simple and not over engineered, with spring clamps used for guides on the pulling frame. Some folks would probably have unnecessary ball bearing roller guides, etc. Got me thinking since I've been using a heat gun with pull frames for canopies, but I have a small carpet seam heater that would probably work perfectly if used similar to your setup.

Jürgen, this is like looking at an ancient method for vacuum forming, if you compare it to your other videos of your other setup! What material is the frame made of and what are critical things to mind according to you?

Jürgen,

How thick is the Depron, and what are your clues as to when it's ready to vac?

So similar to how you judge when plastic is ready for forming ... the Depron sags? I had assumed it would shrink and crack/melt

Thanks for the explanation!

With plastic films I look for when the sheet tightens back up. Heating it causes wrinkles as it expands but then at forming temperature the sheet tend to shrink due to the stretching "tentering" process after extrusion. But for Depron I suspect that too hot since it's not tentered as far as I know..

Hi Juergen, your work is stunning. Did you use already a Vector foam from Graupner?
