There are some upgrades you can do such as run a hotter motor, or do a complete brushless conversion. Just be aware that the hull itself will have its limitations, and if over powered performance will start to suffer.

Thanks, i'm actually using it as a rescue boat. Actually it can tow in a larger boat pretty well.

Possibly the best use for it. I bought a bigger Fei Lun FT009 for the same reason.

If you want to try brushless, a good 2440 inrunner in the 3000-4000KV range would push it along nicely. A 2030 might be better weight-wise, but it's hard to find one 4000KV or lower.

2440 3900KV here:

2440 3000KV:

2440 4000KV:

Avoid outrunners, as this little hull will handle poorly with one due to the gyro and torque-roll issues.

Good to know, once the little guy starts getting tired I will upgrade it to brushless. Would any other electronics/parts have to be changed with the motor swap or can I just drop it in?

No such thing as a "drop-in" brushless motor to replace a brushed one.

A brushless speed controller (ESC) will be needed, and if the stock speed controller shares a circuit board with the radio, then a new $30-$35 TX and RX will be needed too.

A brushed motor is a complete item, you apply power, it works.
A brushless motor is effectively only half a motor. It needs the correct ESC to do the job of distributing power to the coils that the brushes and commutator do in a brushed motor. So it becomes a case of new motor plus new ESC.
And if the old ESC was built into the receiver card rather than plugged in, a new receiver as well. And if the new receiver is not compatible with the existing one, a new one of them. "Great aches from little toe-corns spring"
