I was just flying the Vulcan tonight. I had added some lights to the front and was enjoying how it was handling along with the added visibility given by the LEDs. That's when the motor broke loose from it's mount. It must have been loose from it's initial crash a couple weeks ago. I managed to land with no incident. The glue is drying right now.

Still, I really like the way it handles. I had dropped the travel to 50% per some advice given to me in another thread. But I ended making it 85% and that seems to work just fine.

Got some pieces glued together, locating the bottom pieces is a bit of a challenge. The location
is not marked on the plans.

I extended the elverons to the end of the wing and made a line so it looks like they stop
short of the wing tip. I have had some problems with the little end piece getting bent in
transport and landing in taller grass.

Going back a few years (10) we made our Vulcans with the motor on the back end.. a simple flat wing design.. using the blue wonder type 2730 -1300kv motor 8x4 prop and a 3s lipo.

here a video showing the thrust from the BW motor
Depron vulcan brushless motor power (0 min 12 sec)

Have you maidened this yet? Inquiring minds want to know.

Honestly, I'm real interested in hearing how your 150% scaled version works. I've been flying my Vulcan just about every day it's been possible this week. It's become my favorite plane to fly. Even more than my 42" BlueBaby (which is saying a lot since that's a sweet plane)

Not yet, had a lot on my plate the last couple weeks, And some weather to deal with. it is done.
Came out a bit heavier than I had hoped for, so I upped the power to 300 watts.
AUW is 21oz. I'll post some pics in a couple minutes.

Maiden went well, it really flies nice. Never got near 100% throttle. This was not only a maiden
of the plane, but a maiden of a new radio system. So a bit of double nerves.

Second flight not so well, Found out just how slow it won't go. just a minor wrinkle in the nose.
will replace the front three inches later.

Video in a bit. Loading now.

avro vulcan maiden (4 min 17 sec)

I am working on the second video, it is short.

avro vulcan two (1 min 36 sec)

After watching this a couple times, I'm not sure it stalled, something else may have
been going on. ??

Looks like an unwanted "down elevator" and not a stall to me...

My thoughts exactly. New radio, new plane, who know?? There was almost no wind.

Wow, that looks really cool scaled up to that size. Even as a kid building plastic model airplanes, I just loved that shape.

And talk about "floating"!!!

I think my next build may be a scaled up version just like yours.

Seems far too violent to be a stall.

Not film, I use proper Depron, - light sanding, - coat of matt ceiling emulsion as an undercoat, - light sanding, - then household colored emulsion or artists acrylic paint (preferred), - topped off with a clear 'silk' finish polyurethane varnish for added protection.
