As far as the airfoils are concerned, I keep it fairly conservative and I use this recipe almost in all my designs. Only the thickness can differ. In this case it is at the root a NACA2410 and on the tip a NACA0010, tip rotation always 0 °. I got this from the old ROBBE PUMA II, there they go from a NACA2415 to a NACA0015. It always guarantees good and uncritical flight characteristics even inverted it is quite neutral even aerbatics are no problem. Of course we are not going to compare it here with an F3A model.
Even my little Zlin has this concept in the wing, it is one of the reasons for his success. It is also on my X-25 Blue Puma, X-25b Puma mkV, X-24, X-32 Tucano and X-45 Beta-Major and it has never disappointed me. You can see all those models on my Flickr account, https://www.flickr.com/photos/vonw00...7685199014716/ |

And because things are going so well here, here are some pictures of the installation of the wing servos. No furthes comment is needed I think.
Currently the filler is drying and if I still have the courage I will cover the wing halves with paper this evening. Some might have noticed that no ailerons have yet been made, this only happens when the paper is completely dry, then the ailerons are cut out without warping, the edges are then also finished with paper. After having build several dozen of foamies this has proved to be the easiest way to obtain straight control surfaces |

Normally we build in the winter but it has been so hot outside lately that it is much better inside so we have an extra construction season this year in the summer
So against all the rules in again an update of the X-46. Wings ready covered with paper and ailerons cut out. rudder and stab milled and ready to glue and for the first time everything loosely put together, think it looks good and it motivates me more and more to continue Installing the EDF and finishing the rear section. The thrust tube is also printed and adjusted so that it fits nicely And finally a few pics of the complete model Can hardly wait to see it in the air Dirk |

Looking very nice. What is the wing span and length
|

The span without tip tanks is 1100mm and the length is 1200mm. I estimate that the weight will be 1600gr, with the Hacker StreamFan3400 (Wemotec Minifan) on 4S the thrust would also be around 1600gr. So the thrust weight ratio will be about 1 to 1 so power will be OK ;-)
