Hi Sam,
you saved me really a lot hasseling around, thanks again. The flashing process with the new firmware went flawlessly according to your instruction. For some reason I didn't have to do it twice. It worked on the first attempt and yes I'm on a Windows 10 64bit machine. So, with the new GUI there a few more options, which is good. The Wolf OSD is the one which is inside the KISS_OSD 2.5.1 package, right? This one I'm running now, still with the stock config. The voltage is of by about 0,4 Volts but I think I can adjust this with the config hex. Also the mah consumption is off. According to OSD I used 1200mah but the chargr put 1400mah back into the batteries. This can be adjusted in the OSD as well I guess. The only thing that still doesn't worked like desired at the moment is the "Airmode" feature I know from betaflight but I guess it was a incorret setting of min_command and min_throttle. The throttle channel goes excactly from 1000 to 2000ĩs NOW min_command is set to 1000 (Airmode on all the time) and min_throttle 1070 (default). BEFORE I had min_command to 1010 and min_throttle to 1030, which let the props spin up when arming via switch but when the throttle was at zero the copter had no authority, because min_command was set to 1010 I guess. So with the above values the airmode feature should work like in betaflight I believe. Next flight will show. The new firmware now offers to reverse the yaw direction, which is the same like reverse motor direction in betaflight I suppose, which is what I usually set up. Therefore I need to change the ESC directions, which unfortunately is not possible via FC passthrough like with betaflight :-) So I connected the iFlight OSD/ESC board to the FC and USB (jumper was on) and connected with BLHeli32 suite => the connect was ok, but when clicking read (applying power to the ESC before by attaching the flight battery) i get an error, that ESC 1 couldn't be read (and all the other as well). Isn't this supposed to work this way? |

And another two questions.
Just went trough all options of the Kiss OSD Config Menu. I cannot find a option where to calibrate the current sensor of the ESCs I found a menu where I can move the elements around but couldnīt figure out how to disable specific ones which I donīt need. Any help is appreciated :-) |

about the consumed mAh .. if you charge a battery with balance mode .. it usually puts more in... cause the Charger discarges a bit of one cell and puts it back in, so that the cells got the same voltage ...
but yes ... the BL_32 esc are for my always a bit off ... ~20% (Airbot Wraith32 and Typhoon32 V2) KISS esc's are always spot on for me ... maybe 2% off and your correct... that you can adjust in the OSD...( In "Battery" -> "MAH Correction") or if you wire up the ESC like in the IFlight diagram.. you can do it via BLheli_suite the rotation of your motors you can also set in the KISS GUI in the ESC tab ... if you running D-Shot the esc should revers the spinning direction... btw .. the checkboxes don't keep they settings ... its made for the KISS esc with a connected TLM line ... BL_32 don't does that but.. the ESC gets the command and stores it .. you just don't see it in the GUI so .. about the Airmode thing ... there are 2 they look nearly the same "Min. Command" and ">MID<. Command (thats for 3D-flight) should look like in the pic i uploaded ... works for me all the time and all my other quads got nearly the same settings except "Min. Throttle" ps.: don't mind the stock PID's ... new build |

Hey Sam,
thanks, the motor direction change over the ESC flashing tab worked as described, another problem solved ;-) Airmode worked with min_command set to 1000 and min_throttle to 1070 as desired. A few other problems reamin though, maybe we can address them too. - I don't have the option "mah correction" in the OSD config under the battery menu (see the screenshot attached). Any idea why is that? I used version 2.5.1 of the KISS OSD - still couldn't figure out how to disable unwanted OSD elements. I found a menu where I can disable the icons, but the value remain visible. I also found that by assignig a AUX i can switch between 3 different modes (a lot information, a bit less information and OSD off). I really don't need the information about each individual ESC (Amp, Temp, and so on). This is mainly what I'd like to disable but couldn't figure out how. Watched this video but still don't get it. Any hints? :-)
EDIT: I think now I found the secret ... Quote:

are you in the "config" file?
or in the actual OSD file? i got that option in the normal OSD menu... and yes ... the "reduce item" to remove and add OSD Items , i have it on a Knob ... i use normally AUX 3 (Channel 7 on your Radio) for that... but be aware.. you can't use that channel for other FC stuff then... there is also (in the Config file) the .. whats is it called ... in the Display option... the "Order" what Item is Display first... i got the Nickname, consumed mAh, total Amper, Timer, etc first ... the ESC related stuff last ... btw... you can check that if you arm your quad and move the Knob on you radio ... so you don't have to flash the actual OSD file to check that. so .. on my quads .. i got RSSI (Crossfire LQ ) on AUX4 (Channel 8) Reduce Item on AUX 3 Arm on AUX 1 Turtle and beeper on AUX 2 .... Beeper on mid position, Turtle on High position |

I feel like I'm in the middle ages with only 4 aux channels :-)
>> are you in the "config" file? or in the actual OSD file? That was in the "Config" file. I didn't know that the actual OSD also has config settings .... why the heck then is there a config firmware and not everything in the OSD ... not enough space maybe? I don't know how to enter the config of the Wolf OSD but by googleing i believe I have to "yaw left while disarmed for more than two seconds), go to SETUP and then BASIC". With this everything should be configureable as desired. However, this OSD configuration process *facepalm*. This one goes to betaflight ;-) Thanks again. |

Yesterday, out of nowhere, in the config OSD a menu item called "List items" or similar appeared, where I was able to disable unwanted items!!! Om the other hand the menu where the item order could be set disappeared! Just like I'm used to from betaflight. I really cannot image that I didn't see this menu the whole because it would saved me some writing an reading. I believe it maybe has to do with aux channels assignment in the KISS GUI because I made some changes there recently and on my taranis. Not sure, though. In the normal OSD I now found the option to set the mah correction value and set it to 120% Nearly finished. I'm having quite some noise in the video feed which is due to poor filtration according to Oscar Liang who encountered this too. @Sam I encountered a new problem on the last flight and I'm not sure if this is board or firmware related. If applying full throttle after a dive for example, the quad doesn't hold his position in which it was before applying 100% throttle. In my case the quad is tilting back, but only if the throttle value before was zero. In normal flying conditions with punch outs everthing is fine. This is weird, never saw such a behaviour before so I would assume it is KISS related? Do you have any idea how to investigate this? For me most likely it looks like the ESCs don't have enough "reserve" to compensate as the FC/FW requieres ... maybe? But if so, then why only if the throttle before was zero (Airmode activated) and not in normal flight with punch outs. Attached is a short clip visualizing the problem (0:06):

But why Betaflight. This board is meant to be flown with KISS ;-) |

(but never saw such behaviour with betaflight on stock PIDs, hehe ) Quote:
There must be "something" about KISS, otherwise they wouldn't be around. I'm kinda already feeling the "different" thing, but this is mostly due to the completely different stock rates/stick feel (longer stick throw), which of course can be adjusted but I went with the stock settings because I didn't want mess anything up with individual settings. What's impressing me the most is the "snappyness". The quad really feels looked in (even with default PIDs). |
