Canopy latch mod - RC Groups

ronaldopn Ronaldo Nogueira Thread OP	Mini-HowTo Canopy latch mod I've always found those canopy thumb screws not practical specially because I fly electrics only and thus have to swap batteries frequently. Here is a step by step procedure for a latch installation on my Flight Model Yak 54 30cc. Ronaldo Images View all Images in thread Views: 229 Full metal heavy duty latch. Views: 236 Glued plywood piece and rounded to fit inside fuselage. Views: 246 Screws for added security. Views: 253 Slot for the latch pin done with a hobby knife and finished with soldering iron tip (to seal the covering). Views: 252 Latch glued with thick CA. I filled around the block with regular CA and hit it with CA kicker. Views: 267 Added lite ply sheet inside canopy to spread the load. Views: 232 Glued a plywood block in the position where the hole will be drilled. Views: 231 Using a marker I painted the tip of the pin. Views: 38 Installing the canopy and pushing the pin forward will give you a nice mark of where to drill the hole. Views: 28 Done. Views: 37 Installed, no more annoying canopy thumb screws.
