Yes, inflight current sensing is a nice addition. But I should be able to trust it face-value. That trust is completely gone. Do NOT buy it!!! It's the only leverage we have as a customer. |

Sadly, this is for a 1500mm fixed wing with 60-70amp draw, so the KISS ESC's are way underspec for me. I guess I will have to use : FrSky FCS-150A Current Sensor w/Smart Port instead ? a shame as its quite heavy and bulky with lots of wires. Or is there another telemetry enabled ESC out there ? I have been googling with no results.. It really is a perfect product in the FrSky lineup..........just the right Amp rating and size and weight for a big fixed wing. |

They obviously found a cheap workaround to measure the current using the software that's also doing the controls. That's fine by me as long as it works. Now it turns out it doesn't. The measurements are not even linear. They need to do a lot more to make me buy another "telemetry enabled ESC" from them again. |

I don't know for a fact, but it's my gut feeling when they said the supposed fix is in the BLHeli software.
I would have expected it to be in the software that is also handling the S-Port interface and can be changed/upgraded using the S-Port interface. The most obvious solution to an onboard current sensor is an ACS758U-100. I think I've seen posts that this sensor is not on the PCB. It may have been too expensive. I didn't open it up and examined it. Maybe it has a shunt, but that wouldn't explain the initial problem where it stopped measuring at 4 Amps. |

ESCs with internal current telemetry always provide "estimations" by measuring dropout voltage on somewhat known resistance tracks which they use for their internal overcurrent limit, but I've never seen one that claimed being precise. It's not calibrated and subject to manufacturing tolerances, but for the original purpose a 20% error or even more and instability is a non-issue. The point is to get an idea of whether you're overloading it or have 50% margin without having to add extra compenents more than anything else.
If you want a precise reading you'll need to add a decent current sensor or dedicated precision shunt, but if you go that way it makes little sense integrating it in the ESC anymore, jsut use a separate sensor. |

Out of the box it was even worse. It stopped at 4 Amps. That has nothing to do with tolerances. I haven't deemed it worth to go through the upgrade process as I will only reach mediocre results. I may change my mind. The other side of it is that I would have had current sensors on several ESC's if I didn't have bought this piece of #@$%@#%. I was planning to combine Mike Blandford's S-Port voltage sensor with an ACS-758U to achieve this. |

Or make up an OpenXSensor although I've heard Aloft Hobbies in the U.S. have something similar/same but pre-built. |

Does it work well ? I really need amp/rpm on my new plane, first time rolling my own power setup and don't want to burn anything

Please try to update the firmware for S.Port (180623) and BLHeli (32_6) to the latest version first, and let me know if you still have the problem. Here is the download link, https://www.frsky-rc.com/fresc32_80a/ Thanks |
