JR Radio History past to today

This is from RC Depot spells out what happened with JR Japan and where it is today and where its going.
KONISHI MOKEI CO., LTD.
28th February 2018

Transition from JR to RC Depot to Dee Force Aviation

Konishi Mokei Co., Ltd had a long history of doing business with JR Propo. Konishi Mokei operated the RC Depot store in Noda-City, outside Tokyo, Konishi Mokei were one of the leading sales outlets for JR Propo products in Japan and had a large and loyal customer base of JR owners.

1. At the end of May 2016, JR PROPO stopped paying funds owing to Konishi Mokei Co., Ltd.
2. In July 2016, JR PROPO started to delay the repair services of all JR products.
3. In October 2016,I visited the JR PROPO office in Osaka and found that there were no more service staff remaining in the company, and at the same time most of the retail shops in Japan started to return merchandise to JR PROPO
4. In November 2016, we searched for a former service repair engineer who had left JR, found him and immediately hired him as a repair service representative at RC DEPOT to start our own repair service for JR products.
5. In End November 2016, Konishi Mokei made a contract license agreement with JR Propo to produce JR PROPO’s products, but without the drawings and software as they were mysteriously not available. Up till now we have had great difficulty to manufacturer some of the parts due to a lack of information. With some specialised parts we have not really made much progress but we continue to try our best.
6. At the end of November 2016, JR’s Malaysian factory Sanei Electronics Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. reached a critical cash flow situation since JR had stopped paying any bills from them since June 2016, I have negotiated to work together with the Sanei team to restart the manufacture of JR Products. The Project started.
7. In early December 2016, in order to rebirth the products, we have initially struggled without any software or drawings. But we found a few former JR engineers and immediately hired them to make everything from scratch again. At the same time, we visited many of the former JR suppliers, however they were hesitant to work with us because of the unpaid bills by JR PROPO.
8. In mid December 2016, after a long few weeks of negotiations, one of most important suppliers decided to give us a helping hand for our production.
9. In January 2017, there was news from outside giving us an offer to purchase a large portion of JR parts being held by unpaid Suppliers. We also started to negotiate with a former JR Heli supplier to obtain the series of FORZA helicopters. The Sylphide E12 project started.
10. In mid February 2017, we negotiated to purchase a portion of JR parts successfully from the Suppliers.
11. At the end February 2017, remade receivers and related parts successfully on both software and hardware side.
12. In April 2017 started to release newly made receivers to the market.
13. In mid April 2017 the RC DEPOT OUTLET”store specializing in JR Helicopter parts has been opened.
14. In May 2017, we recreated the NX series servo’s software. Successfully and immediately started to manufacturer NX series servos. New radio which employed the Aluminum Gimbals and with a colored front face of XG11. (XG11 RC DEPOT EDITION) has been released.
15. In June 2017, have started the R&D of a new project for a new series of receivers.
16. In mid July 2017, made a little modification to XG8 to release 14channel XG8+6
17. In August 2017, NX series with Brushless servo development was completed.
18. In October 2017, participated in Tucson Aerobatic Shootout, however we could not promote our brand by handing out original flyer nor having a banner at the site.
19. In November 2017, we moved the “RC DEPOT OUTLET SHOP” and merged it into our headquarter store in Izumi , Noda. At the same time we hired 3 more engineering specialists to develop a new transmitter as a major project.
20. In December 2017 , Sanei Electronics Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. moved to a new location in Johor, Malaysia.
21. December 26, 2017 JR PROPO has filed for bankruptcy. The management of JR PROPO have been referred to the Bankruptcy attorney.
22. Early January 2018 DA has announced the DA600PRO servo at the AMA show, which we have been developing with Desert Aircraft.
There was contact from the Bankruptcy attorney informing us that our license agreement to use the JR logo trade mark has been terminated due to bankruptcy of JR PROPO. However, we applied to Court via Bankruptcy attorney to extend our license agreement of JR PROPO brand logo marking until the end of February 2018. A Court judge immediately granted the extension considering our past results and history. Our license of the logo trade mark of “JR” or “JR PROPO” will expire on 28th of February 2018, Existing inventory is exempted from this expiry.

23. In End February 2018,
We are authorized by Japan Tele Communication Engineering Center that both the Transmitter module and Receiver module we use has been approved for Domestic market sales.

From March 1st 2018,
We will start our new brand “Dee Force Aviation”(DFA), to promote upper level JR compatible products. And we will continuously develop and release new products for the future. Kindly note again that we shall be selling remaining stock of JR product’s inventory so you will find this in some future deliveries.

In conclusion, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our valuable customers, consumers, friends , new Suppliers and supporters who have been helping us with their wishes or helping us financially.

Thank you very much. We appreciate your cooperation, understanding and support.

We at Dee Force Aviation are very committed to develop new and better products for modelers into the future.

Thank you

Kindest regards,

Tomohisa Konishi

This I found on a Japanese site showing how JR Japan was defrauded by one person :

/27 (Tuesday) 8: 34 delivery

The director was a former major securities man who supported the current president ... (Photo is an image)

Ambiguous outflow of Japan remote control, support role of the president is bankruptcy history and arrest history Japan remote control was founded in 1976. In 1995, we launched the helicopter business department and started production of a radio control type (RC) helicopter body and transmitter. My own brand "JR PROPO" boasted a high profile among enthusiasts.

In recent years, we plan to move from hobby to industrial, and in 2015 we raised more than 2 billion yen from banks and announced the establishment of a new factory over 3 billion yen. The director of section H of the bank contact point was talking about stock listing plans and drone development for overseas.

However, due to a delay in payment in 16 years, deterioration in cash flow will be whispered. Department manager H explained to the business partner, "We can not cash immediately because ample funds are used for operation."

This department manager explained to the stakeholders that he was a former major securities man and he joined the company around the year of December 2002 to support the current president. After joining the company, he was in charge of the financial institution window, and soon took control of financial affairs and personnel affairs. Establishing the position of real manager, raising funds by talking about large investment talks such as setting up a new factory.

However, the planned construction of the factory did not proceed at all and the large amount of funds, which was said to be operated by department manager H, never came out.

On the contrary, manager's career was false. Actually, the department manager H had bankruptcy history and arrest history. Director H was the former manager of a company that bought bankruptcy with the debt of about 7.5 billion yen in 2002, and there was about 2 billion yen outflow of funds at the time of bankruptcy.

In 2003, it was arrested and charged with the Osaka District Prosecution Special Prosecutors Department for alleged fraud. Although he was a general manager who had bankruptcy history and arrest history, now he changed his name, so I did not notice that no one was the same person.

Even at the company, a large amount of funds such as financial debt of more than about 2 billion yen, representative family's assets of hundreds of millions of yen, etc. flowed out after entering the department manager, and oppressed the cash flow. After December 16, suddenly most of the employees were dismissed, and sales realities were almost lost.

The business of the company came to an end as some creditors who saw this situation filed for bankruptcy.

Thank you for posting the above information, it should really help folks understand what and why things have been going the way they have for JR.

Sad to see that the legal eagles cannot justify letting the new company keep the logo, but I suspect they'll be better off without considering what's gone on.

When Pro line went under , it was another case of problems unrelated to product performance.
There was no on line venue to discuss it back then but the story was even more interesting.

Market is changing all the time. if businesses do not adapt to the market changes, they go out of business - happens all the time - Controlaire, Pro-line, Heathkit, Kraft, AceRC, Graupner Germany, JR, Robbe, Hobbico/Great Planes and maybe soon followed by Hitec/Multiplex and Futaba.

Hi,
Could You give some more info about this, maybe in a new thread or in an existing Pro Line thread (or here).
I have always wondered why Pro Line closed their doors. (I have an old Pro Line Competition Series 1975.)

"...maybe soon followed by Hitec/Multiplex and Futaba" - any signs in the sky that it could happen what You mention to Hitec/Multiplex and Futaba? Just curious why you picked them.

Their parent co went bankrupt, got closed down, is the short story.
The founder of Pro Line ,lives up the mountain from me.
He is the guy who invented Dolby 5.1 among other things.
Still flies models using Pro line and Spektrum stuff
Great guy.

Actually, in their defense, Hitec is adapting. They appear to be concentrating on servos since their announcement about not making new transmitters. Everyone in the industry agrees that servos are their core strength and always have been. I've owned a number of Hitec transmitters over the years, from the early splashed Futaba cases to an Eclipse 7 (still have my Dad's Eclipse 7, with both dial-a-crash and Spektrum modules).

Focusing on core strength is a good idea, and I'm happy to see that Hitec is doing that. I still use their servos, in fact I just bought 4 HS-55's for a plane I'm building.

it's quite a bit strange. the market is full of rebranded servos, although as a major brand they feel the market is too satured for a new Tx release ?

More than the name, as Graupner is currently the company which used to produce most of the electronics products of the old Graupner prior to its bankruptcy (ironically, before SJ Propo, Graupner's electronics products largely came from JR).

Interesting AndyKunz, I never would have guessed that Servos would be a backbone seller (I love Aloft btw, you guys are great).

Maaaaaaan, this is so sad though. Like a part of my childhood has died; It almost starts to read like a Soap Opera after awhile eeesh... Not gonna lie, still hoping to pick up a classic 10x off of eBay one of these days for nostalgia sake.

So, pardon if it's a dumb question, but that means that JRAmericas will be going away too right, after all the old stock has sold off? And Dee Force Aviation is the closet thing that will be left?
