I need to spec out a replacement display, i spoke with your establishment and they will not sell me the part stating theres work involved replacing it, the charger is currently in the hands of someone i know and i was gonna start searching for a 128x64 graphics display lcd backlit to see if i could secure one prior to receiving the unit.....i broke the display when i dropped a battery pack on the unit so its not covered under warranty.....

The displays are custom designed specific for the charger with specific programming built into them, fitting an aftermarket display may not work.

Can you help me secure a part for a model 44232? I have no issue paying for the part and shipping as well I'm more than capable of swapping it out, soldering is no issue I am J-STD-001 IPC certified. I work on electronic devices at the semi-conductor level for 14 years now.....I do subcontract work for the DOD on High Speed Electric Brushless Rescue Hoists, to replace the LCD screen would be fairly easy for me.....im not just saying that to toot my horn....

Due to liability reasons and the inherent danger associated with Lithium batteries, we cannot send any internal charger component out to customers. We have to install these in house.

You wouldn't be liable for anything since there would be a record of you selling me the part and me installing it myself which in turn voids any warranty or liabilities attached to your establishments product you would have my name and address on record as proof.....its the difference between 10-20 dollar part and a 50 dollar repair sans shipping for a 99$ charger, you make more on the repair, that I would understand and I classify that as business.....No worries, Thank you for your time and your concern.....

I am a nice guy! Really!
Well maybe, maybe not. You might well pay more to get the part than the repair charge would be. Have you asked what the costs would be? Sometimes it is better to let someone else have the aggravation and spend a bit of money. And I am an electronic tech too.

Its 50 to repair sans shipping costs when I spoke to Hitec, I could buy new for 99 online price, not worth it when it costs more than half after shipping costs included.....good news is I was able to secure a Hitec X2 from someone who has this particular charger but the discharge function on both channels was not functioning and he did not feel safe using it anymore for whatever reason so he offered it to me for free so I gave him 20 dollars and we both went on with our lives.....I could handle 20 for a repair good deal....I extracted the LCD panel and chucked the rest of his charger in the fu** it bucket......

Just a side note I also learned that you can control the charger with the WiFi module that costs around 20 dollars even if the LCD is broken, I verified that prior to replacing the LCD that someone on this forum had sold me for a very fair price....thanks to that fellow.....so thats just another work around....

Yeah
Companies have to worry about liability issues on what they do and what they approve of.

Case in point, the company I worked for manufactured high voltage circuit breakers, if anyone gets hurt, we automatically get sued, whether our stuff worked or not. A few years ago, there was a very sad accident in a power substation, and we got sued.

Our 1200 pound circuit breakers were still inside their totally enclosed plywood crates in the substation, not yet installed.

You probably shipped them in the wrong kind of plywood. That is the reason for being sued.

When lawyers file a suit they throw in everyone that they can possibly blame. Then they let the judge or, worse yet, the jury decide who has to pay. Of course they don't care if you have to hire a lawyer to defend against their ridiculous suit.

I'm well aware of liabilities, I work for a sub contractor that manufactures High Speed Electric Rescue Hoists for the Department of Defense, our devices pluck lives out of oceans, lakes, woods, mountains etc.....just hear me out on this and I don't totally disagree with his concern but also anyone could open these particular chargers and screw something up on purpose because at first glance there appears to be no anti-tampering in place to detect if it has been compromised, with that said the "business" aspect also has a play in this for example, selling me the part is lets say 10-20 dollars, ask me to send in for repair charge me 50 dollars, from a "business" aspect which would you prefer......I wouldn't be mad at the fact that they want to make money in the deal, I totally understand that angle and I'm OK with it....I asked twice nicely they said NO, I found a solution, problem solved.....It worked out in my favor in this particular case because A. I was lucky enough to find another broken charger local to me less than 3 miles from where I live searching on facebook marketplace and after a friendly conversation he wanted to literally give it to me for nothing because in his own words he "didn't feel right selling a broken item" but I gave him a 20 bill and we went our ways, B. I didn't have to wait 1-2 weeks to send out a charger for repair.....its all good in the neighborhood.....there is no hate towards HITEC I like there product, and I'm a business man too.....people repair there own cars with parts sold to them from dealers and if you don't think that's a liability.....lol
