Awesome find. So Jealous, always loved the Summit III.

Here is a little inspiration for you. Ivan came to a contest here in Southern California in 1983 or 1984. I snapped these pictures of his plane. Not sure what version this was, I assume is was a Summit III. I especially like the Summit Logo on the side of the fuse.

Enjoy!

Doug,
Nice photos of Ivan's Summit III. I think it was a little more recent than '83 or '84.
Ivan flew a Citation in 1983 (and won the US Nationals).
He flew an Atlanta in 1984 (2nd at Nats).
He flew the Summit (I) in 1985 (won the US Nats) and 1986.
He flew the Summit II or EXP in 1987 and 1988.
The Summit III finally appeared in 1989.
He placed 5th at the WC in 1985 with the original Summit; 9th in 1987 with the Summit II and 3rd in 1989 with the Summit III.
An outstanding design flown by a great pilot!

Doug,

I believe flywilly57 is right. Here's Ivan with his Summit III at the Kansas City contest in 1991.

Where is Orlando Frets ?

To Everybody. What happened, and where is Orlando Frets ? He and I did our best some years ago to get organized SPA together for FL, and no luck.
Spent some time at different clubs, etc. He also had a home in Puerto Rico. His old number and e-mail, not working anymore. He was always involved in the Tangerine years ago, plua CD status.

Any info appreciated.

Hi Vince!
He has April & May postings on his FB page, whatever that implies.
If he's in PR, though, it's possible he doesn't even have electricity yet and/or may have his hands full cleaning up the mess there.

Doug, your photo looks to have been taken in the late 80's in Chula Vista, Ca. My home field at the time.
