Guillows Kit #502 - Focke Wulf FW-190 “UMX” conversion
Since it would appear Horizon will never release a micro FW-190, I’ll build one using their UMX electronics.
Guillows kit #502, 16.5” wingspan. Haven’t figured out yet what I’ll cover it with. |

Bhoov, it should be a non-tricksey build and conversion. Lots of them have been done and posted here... and mostly successful. Given your UMX proclivities and experience, you'll have no problems so long as you keep it light. Your biggest decision is to go 1S and RET (tame on the whole) or full aileron setup with a 2S ( as wild as your beloved P-47s). Some folks also have split the difference, using a 5 gram outrunner with the UMX BL bricks ! Probably a good idea.. and it woud let you use a lighter battery. Lighter setups call for microlite, solite, tissue etc, whilst you may wanna fully plank a 2S-180-Babbelbatt REAT version.
If I can do it, anybody can do it... and I have four flying Guillows/AS3X/UMX planes now. GOOD LUCK. jack/juanito |

Ben, are you making any progress? I'm really curious to see how this works out for you. I haven't built a Guillows in eons, but if you're successful putting some electronics in Wurger A model, I might try to do it in a Dora.

Got the fuse, h-stab, and v-stab done, then cluttered up my desk with a (paid) work project. I just got it cleaned off 2 nights ago, last night was my night with my little little at dance, so tonight looks like the wing will get started

I started laying down the parts for the wings but I'm bothered by the junk quality of this thing, not that I'd expect any type of perfection.... but still
There are two "Sheet C" parts.... but the density of the wood is amazing in how different it is. 8.3g for one sheet; 5.2g for the other. One is 60% heavier than the other! |

Yes... I'll be splitting it half and half to try not to have a 60% heavier wing
Thanks Jack |

No pressure! lol
It's on hold until I can clean my build table off. I had a RC truck project happen... then painted some static models and those are taking up some space... and put up a bunch of eBay listings so there's just stuff, everywhere. Tomorrow & thru the weekend I'll be cleaning up and getting back to work on the little 190. |

That's okay, Ben, but I hope that you do know that you're making it extremely difficult to live vicariously through your exploits...
