The fuse was painted with PlastiDip White as a base coat, then Red, Blaze Orange, and Blaze Yellow. The bottom only is laminated with 5 mil.

The wings were panted with Black PlastiDip, laminated with 5 mil, then painted with Rust-Oleum Gloss Black after being scuffed with Scotch Brite.

The wing flames are custom made vinyl by Callie Graphics.

Some unique features:

I always wanted to find a clean way to fill the Corro Flutes and I finally found one. HOT GLUE! Lay down a bead of hot glue and let set up, then go back and lay down another so you have plenty of material to work with. Once fully setup/cooled use a"cheese grater" style file (SurForm Tool https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-21-39...s=surform+tool) to take off the excess and shape. Finish off with some 100 grit sandpaper and paint! Easy!

Since I am going for efficiency on this build and I have nothing that needs cooling in the Saddle Bays I decided to lam over the vents (top and bottom) to reduce drag. This also allowed me to have the bay covers fully removable.

Rubber Tires! I did this on my original Drak and after 50+ landings on crappy rough ground they still look like new so I decided to do it again on this version even though it's kind of a PITA to do. The tricky part is cutting out enough of the corro flutes to allow the rubber to sit down inside nicely. I don't remember where I got the rubber or what it was called but it is 6mm solid round rubber.

ABS Nose Skid/Bungee Hook. I used a Dremel to cut a slot in the foam, shaped the skid from 1/8" ABS sheet, and Gorilla Glued in place.

Rear Facing Strobe. I used a Strobon strobe and cut away the corro on the inner side of the ESC vent and hot glued in place.

To get CG with 2X5000mah 5S Turnigy NanoTechs I had to cast a 188 gram (6.6 ounce) lead slug for the nose!

AUW with 188g lead and 2 X 5k 5S batteries all the way forward is 4660 grams (10 lbs, 4 oz.).

AUW with 2 X 5k 5S batteries all the way forward and a 8k 5S behind is 5300 grams (11 lbs, 11 oz.)

That's a beautiful plane and a great job fitting her out. I suppose those thousands of mahs will enable long flights. May she provide many hours of good science and fun.

Lovely. Where did you get the wing extensions? Did you DIY this from a 60 inch Drak kit?

I loved my first Drak so much I bought a spare kit- just in case The extended wings are cut by Chris Klick at Ritewing, the rest was done by me.

I also have a couple of Mini Draks but wasn't a big fan until Chris came up with 55" extended wings for it. It totally changed the MD to a long range cruiser (my record is 35 miles, 65 minutes air time) so when he came up with the extended wings for the Big Drak I had to have a set!

I looked at your pictures and can't see where your VTX antenna is?
I am just now researching 1.2/1.3ghz video. How do like the VTX in this plane or do you have one that you find best for some reason?
PS cool plane.

The Vtx antenna is a side feed Singularity mounted in the bottom of the fuse near the nose. Look for the white round object in the pictures. I use the RMRC 1000mw but the Vtx is not the critical part, it's the Vrx and antennas you use!

HI again Sweetieinsf, my Drak arrived here the other day.

I wont be joining the Ritewing Nation FB page for i simply don't like FB, but i'll eventually do a build thread at fpvlab and here.

How are your Draks going, any footage coming up in the near future? :P

Welcome to the Drak Club! No flying recently, at least nothing interesting enough to post. If the forecast holds I'll get the BD80 out in the morning and we'll see. I'm into the foggy/windy season now until about September so it's road trip time if I'm going to get any decent flying in

Keep me posted on your build!

I'm entering the foggy/winter season also, so will give me plenty of time to build, i just need to clear out the spare room and turn that into my hangar!

So for now my Drak is still unopened in the box

I will keep you updated for sure!

DragonLink Antenna

Hi Sweetieinsf, i'm going to use DragonLink for my Drak, did you use the antenna that comes with the V3.
Actually if you did, how did you mount it?

And also what length of cable did you choose? 90cm seems a little too long, would 30cm or 60cm be long enough?

EDIT-Oh forgot to ask, did you add the Plug & Play for GPS telemetry or does the ETV handle that?

Absolutely use the DL antenna! I can't believe there isn't a picture of how I mounted it here PM me to remind me when I get home and I'll post a picture here. I believe I used the 90cm, which is to long but I coiled the extra in the left saddle bay (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...k#post39661119).

Vector provides all the telem including GPS.
