F4U Corsair 1300mm (with retracts)

Hi All,

Sharing my new project: F4U Corsair with the following specs:

Wingspan 1300mm
Estimated weight 1.5 kg
Motor D3548 790Kv 715W
Propeller 3 blades 11x7
ESC 60A
UBEC
Twist-n-turn retracts

I've built this plane 2 years ago (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...-F4U-1-Corsair) in a smaller version and without retracts.
It was a great plane and I enjoyed flying it until I sold it recently to make room for this project.

This one is going to be bigger and with retracts. It will also be built with a different construction technique.

Plans attached below.

I'll be fastracking things with this one as I'm going pretty fast.
See photos below for wing build.

For more details on how to cut fuselage and wing sections, you can see my previous 2 projects:
- Bulldog Racer (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...g-Racer-1200mm)
- T28 Trojan (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...-Trojan-1200mm)

Retracts

And here is how I did the retract mounts and wheel wells.

I used a foam cutter I got from Banggood which works a treat for cutting holes in wings (spar groove, retract mounts, wheel wells, etc) and fuselages (ventilation holes).

Then I removed the middle piece with a dremmel.

The retract mounts are my own design and 3D printed at home (STL file attached)

Flaps

Flaps and ailerons cut and hinged.
A piece of credit card does the trick for the scale flaps.
