Faris - Telecom Engineer

Hi , its a very nice and useful device ,i really like it.
Are you interested to produce a modified version of this device so it can work for a project that may require a production of large number of peaces (thousands )?

Thank you. It is probably easier to design a spesific version for such high volume applications although I'm not interested.

I programmed a Nano that I had and ordered the MMA8451, the OLED display and some thin wire from AliExpress.
Now I need to wait a month for those parts to arrive to finish it.

I would really appreciate it if someone could confirm I at least bought the proper parts?
I'm a bit in doubt with the display.
It would be quite a bummer if I can't finish it after waiting all that time and need to wait another month.

I have compiled and uploaded this project to my Nano.

They look correct. I bought all my parts off EBay and shipping was 1-2 weeks for all parts...

I'm still waiting for the accellometers, but finished the rest of the schematics.
I expected the LCD to come on, but I see no life in it....

Is this to be expected?

I noticed some differences as well between the "normal" schematics here and the "breadboard" schematics here

The resistor on the breadboard is a 220 Ohm resistor (red-red-brown). I'm quite sure that's wrong and it needs to be 10 kOhm. As I saw that breadboard schematic first I already connected it with that 220 Ohm resistor. I hope my D2 isn't damaged.

The other difference is that the Oled's VCC is connected to 3.3V on the "normal" schematics and connected to the 5V on the "breadboard" schematics.
On both accounts I will be following the "normal schematics".
But I still haven't received my accellometers, so I still have to wait until I can see it working.

I will post a picture after it's finished. I think I have a nice way of attaching it to the deflectors.

On this picture the 3V3 isn't used at all (the 2nd hole on the right hand bottom side is still open).

I will also make sure that the 2 wires for SCL and SDA are not close to each other. I think I will twist SCL with VCC and SDA with GND. More than 100 pF between the SCL & SDA seems to be killing the communication of the I2C.

Probably it doesn't matter all that much, but it's not very consistent.

What do you mean with "my oled required a different descriptor"?

I built 2 of these and none display anything. Maybe I don't have the same oled as is needed.

Since I speak and understand English i translated "INIT EN COURS" to "Starting Up", which is the rough translation of the French INIT EN COURS.
You can do this in the sketch. Simply go through it and find what terms or language that you do not recognize and use google translator to find a term or phrase that you understand.
I'm simply a monolinguistic American, but I totally respect what our other soaring brethren from other countries share with us.

You may want to again check your wiring, and also check which chip is on your MMA84XX boards. The wiring may be different than what you are expecting. The 8451 and the 8452 are different.

Hi Garry,

Thanks for replying. The language is not my problem, my display doesn't react whatsoever. You were right about the chip. I did make it as a 8451 at first. that was the chip I ordered, but then I noticed that I indeed have a 8452, so I changed the wiring and connected SA0 to ground instead of 3.3V and wrote the other code on it.
Maybe I damaged it?

I checked the wiring many times, but I'm afraid I have some mismatch with the display.
today I'm going to test with some code that only handles the display. I would expect at least a reaction there.

I don't have an awful lot of expedience with nano's, but I did build a few OpenXsensors and they worked.

I have also tested 1 of the 2 nano's without the accelerometer to see if the display came on, but it didn't. I don't know if that's too be expected.

When I upload the sketch I need to select "old bootloader" for it to flash. I'm only saying this because it isn't working.

I'm now hoping I will find that my display needs another ID or something for it to work.

I have started with a new nano, oled display and accelerometer.
I only connected the display and ran this...
The display works.

I then loaded the inclinometer software and the display showed an error regarding the sensor.
Not that strange if it is not connected.
I will now solder the accelerometer to it and it will probably work.

Eventually I will find out what was wrong... now following a step by step approach.

edit: it works... now the switch.....
