I'm bored.......
for that reason in 30 minute and fast bi-component glue I have build this adaptor for recharge 3 battery in the same time. ( the best recharge is done ever at 0,5C on all LiPo cells, in this case 900 mAh 6S battery ) |

Every quad I have will fly to 60 feet if it is less than that when it is RTH. and more than 20 Meters away. I guess Bugs same

I have had my Bugs 5 for about 3 weeks now and it has flown great with the exception of a couple of times and tonight was one of those times.
It did a flyaway on me. I lost control and had to hit the lock button to shut the motors down before it hit my home. Before that happened, I had been flying for around 8 minutes or so, and I decided to land it, basically doing a touch and go and took off again without shutting it down and I took it up to about 20 meters and was going to do a few laps around the yard and all of a sudden off it went on it's own. I could not get control of it and like I said I had to hit the lock button and shut the motors down and of course it dropped like a rock. It broke the mount on the bottom for the camera but the camera was alright and one of the little rubber damping balls was lost but other than that it's good. I took the camera off and got another battery and flew it again and it flew great. What in the heck would cause that ? That makes twice now. I make sure I follow the startup and calibration steps so I just am at a loss. Could it be some type of interference ? I would appreciate any help and was wondering if anybody else has had that issue ? |

We don't have the 5W yet but have several 2W/Cs and I think they all have similar characteristics. 2 possibilities...1 You have an intermittent fault somewhere in the quad's (most likely) wiring or .....2 Are you waiting for the quad to fully acquire satellite lock before you lift off? The Bugs quads can fly with no initial satellites but since the home point is set at the point where the quad acquires minimum satellite lock (6 or 7) and at any subsequent motor arming point. Thus if you take off and fly to hover over a 60 meter high tree and the quad THEN acquires the requisite satellites, when the low battery RTH kicks in if you are near the ground the quad will rise to 20 meters and head straight for that tree. Hope it's the latter 'cos intermittent faults are sheer hell to find and fix! Best of luck. |

I suggest that you get another hobby... You're dangerous when you are bored. |

I always wait to take off until I have at least double digit satellites locked in. I had 13 yesterday before I took off and it flew great for around 8 minutes or so, but something that did happen that I just now recalled was, I wanted to check out the RTH on it and see how close it would come to the landing pad. I had it about 25 or so meters off the ground when I hit the RTH button and it did exactly what it is suppose to do...........at first. It went higher and then started to descend and was coming down pretty close to the pad until it got about 5 or 6 feet off the ground and then I guess it did the Prop Wash effect that has been talked about on here and just dropped the rest of the 5 or 6 feet and bounced off the ground and back up. It didn't seem to hurt anything and I kept flying for a couple more minutes and did another landing and right after that came the fly a way. The first time I lost control of it about 2 weeks ago, I didn't do any RTH or touch n go landing. I was just flying and all of a sudden it just took off to the left and started to climb and I could not regain control so again I hit the lock button. I live in a fairly remote area in Southwest Virginia and not a lot of wifi around me so I just don't know what could cause it unless it is some kind of defect. I took the top of the 5w off and looked really good to see if anything could be loose or any soldering issues, but nothing. I have flown it twice today without any issues, but it does worry me everytime I fly now, worried it may just take off on it's own again. Anybody else experience anything like this with this drone ? |

But DON’T get me wrong I have had some decent low end budget quads from China too. My Xplorer Xero has been nothing short of awesome for me, despite as near as I can tell they folded and others have had horrific fly away stories. 3DR, comes to mind too although they were mid ranged and trying to go commercial operation. More than likely your issue may be with location and it is low end tech. Unless you’re flying higher end or lines like Spektrum, Futaba, DJI the frequency these models operate the flight on is UNLOCKED 5ghz & that’s shared by zillions of other things Your issue could simply be a brown out issue aka loss of comms, sounds like that.. I’ve been to a few flying parks that have literally “known brown spots”, you’ll lose communication regardless of how expensive or highly rated the Tx/Rx is while flying over or thru the hot spot. I’ve seen some pilots with very expensive jets/planes just dump cause they couldn’t get outta an area they knew was bad. The two that come to mind are in Ca in So Cal, aka crowded vs Gulfport. The local utility companies have monitors on eqt all over town to send operational info, open-close valves etc from their headquarters. Fly over one of their modems, plop...you drop from the sky. My best advice, sorry maybe others have better....which is likely as I’m not the smartest, is simply fly knowing you are likely especially in areas around other 5ghz to have interruptions. The 2.4 ghz is crowded with old cordless phones, garage door openers, baby monitors etc. Now 5 is getting MUCH MORE crowded with modems, doorbells, cameras aka home monitoring etc. Name brand companies like Spektrum, Futaba, DJI focus on flying and LOCKING in those signals, Chinese companies that bulk out entry level budget quads generally don’t have the same goals, laws, need or desire. Despite a fancy looking web page the thousands of Chinese “Quad” companies like my Xplorer may be using the same tech in my quad to “make baby” pee pee on command or “Optimus Prime” transform when he is near “Bumble Bee” as far as I could tell. Not to mention they wouldn’t disclose that on their web pages for quads. Many moving parts, but the adage “you get what you pay for” applies to our hobby. I don’t expect my Xiro will be as safe as any DJI, cause it’s a knock off. |

Appreciate the reply.
I pretty much figured the " get what you pay for " is what is happening with this drone. I flew helicopters for years until I decided to sell out and get into ground RC and have been doing that for several years now, but I decided I wanted to get back into flying and drones in particular, but I didn't want to start off with a $500 or higher priced drone until I was sure that I wanted to do this fully ( which I have decided I do ) and also learn to fly and control a drone. But I am going to sell all of my ground RC or trade it and get a much better drone than what I have now. I'm 60 now but I am always looking for something new to do and a new skill to learn, besides the drone can help me keep an eye on my land. I guess until I get a better quality drone I will just have to be a little more careful with this one. |

The next step is to improve the beauty of these adapters. These are the latest handmade. The next ones will be done with the 3D printer and they will look like they were made by the factory .. |

The work for one battery adaptator is done.
See the difference new vs old adaptator. ( is impossible do better) |

Also noticed that my map is a grey chinese map, and occasionally it will switch to google maps for no reason but that is grey too. Also, satellite view shows grey as well. Basically unflyable in it's current form for anything map-related. |
