Taranis X9D+ (EU) and FrSky R-XSR binding issues

So far I've been having a hell of a time trying to get the R-XSR to work with the Taranis X9D+ and the Matek F405-AIO.
I've even tried using the uninverted port to no effect.

Here is the wiring I'm using for the F405-AIO to the X-XSR receiver.

Short video:
Frsky Binding / Connection issues with Taranis X9D+ (EU) (2 min 20 sec)

Note: Receiver firmware has been updated with latest Frsky firmware. Taranis (EU) is using firmware opentx-x9d+ 2.2.1 Date 2017-12-17 EEPR 218

Thing is I have two of these receivers and its the same issue with both. I'm guessing that the odds of having two bad receivers is pretty low and that I'm seeing a firmware conflict of some sorts.

Anyone have success with this receiver ?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not conversant with regards to the EU firmware, but I have read about some issues.

As a first suggestion, did you re-bind the receiver to the radio after you flashed the new firmware?

Secondly, which mode do you have the receiver in? D8, D16???

Third, post your question in the Radios forum....

Currently using D8 as I dont need / use a full set of channels.

Beyond that the issue is resolved. Swapped out the receiver card for another R-XSR, flashed it and assigned it to UART-2. After that was test flying it within the hour.

Here is the completed build...

You likely have a firmware mismatch. If you have TX EU firmware, you need EU firmware on RX for them to bind.

Possible but hard to confirm as the receiver card i removed had it's bind button come off. (Not a great week for me)

I did however update the Taranis firmware and that of it's internal module. Overall though the documentation for the R-XSR is very limited and says squat about the EU requirements. I can imagine that this is causing a huge number of issues for EU users.

Mismatch firmware applies to all Frsky RX and TX. It is a source of problem for a lot of people who can't bind. People don't realize that the internal module has it own firmware aside from the TX firmware.
