Question about adding camera to quad.

Hello:

I would like to add a camera to my quad. The quad plus flight battery weighs 380g.

I have a camera that weighs 80g that if possible I'd like to attach to quad.

The motors are 2600kv . The flight battery is 3s.

Your thoughts please.

Thanks

It will lift a 80g camera.

Are those 4 inch props ? If so, you should use 5 inch props (or even 6 inch props if they will fit on the frame) to provide more thrust to lift the camera easier.

The 4 inch props will struggle more to lift the camera.

There are so many factors that can influence the carrying ability.. before risking your camera:

..just hang something cheap of equivalent weight, like a rock, under your quad & see how well far and long she flies

Thank you both for your input . Both for the upsize prop suggestion and the rock -in-lieu of camera to start.

Appreciated.

HUGE! In Japan...
A ZMR-250, very cool! With those motors (RS BR2205 2300kv) and 5048x3 props, my girl's ZMR handles a 1500mah 4S, full FPV setup, 4 LED strips, ImpulseRC LED square, and a Mobius. Mine has Rebel 2206 2360kv, and runs 5051x3 props You'll be just fine!

Fear only fear in life
It will carry a small action cam easily.

Hell I forgot, it'll happily carry 2 HD cameras if you're feeling froggy! I used lower pitch props for the 2-camera flights (5048 vs 5051) just in case, but she flew just fine.

You can easy add an HD camera (I use Apeman HD action cam) to the ZMR 250.

Heres a vid of mine under load with the Apeman.

Mine is also running on 3s lipo.

Getting back after upsizing props from 4" to 5" .

My flight time has increased with 5" props

With specifications attached for the 2600kv motors and 20a ESC's on my quad I have questions please.

Looking to try 6" props as they will fit wondering if they will add more stability using camera.

Any issues with 6" props on this 2600kv motors and 20a eESC's.

Should I look at 2300kv motors with ESC at 30a?

I appreciate your help and explanations.

Thank you

Rick

I’d stick with middle of the road 5”. The high KV doesn’t like the bigger/heavier props. If you want more power, look at 4s. I’d suspect that with a decent 4s battery and decent 5” props, you’ll be able to carry as many cameras as you can fit on the quad. It may not be the most nimble option, but there will be plenty of power. Even if they max out at 1000gm (which isn’t racer grade) you’ll have 4kg of thrust wide open. And you are looking at a weight of maybe 500gm with a 4S and the camera. That’s 8:1 thrust:weight. It will be a rocket.
