Hi guys, As I read this thread I see most are flying this P47 on 20c gas or electric. I have a Saito fa 150 glow. Any opinions on how this Saito would fit and fly the P 47? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Trevor

I’m waiting for a new set as well, I did see Amazon has the individuals for sale for $89 a piece. So $20 more than the set but it’s an option for you, free shipping as well I believe. The struts are widely available.

Slowly getting progress done on Snafu, control surfaces installed, dummy radial installed and retracts, as well as small details here and there, rearview and antenna, zinc chromate yellow green thruout wells and cowl, vvrc 20 going in with exhaust routing thru the waste gates is my next project. Hopefully be maidening her by early summer!

Haha Thanks Phil! If you were a bit closer and shipping wasn’t involved I would, it’s been an enjoyable process!

I use a Saito 150 in my old TF P-47 63" using a 16x8 prop. It's got the same horsepower as the DLE20. Flying at 5300 feet the Saito is fine. I believe my TF is about 12-13 pounds so a bit smaller but just as heavy (= built stronger) as the H9.

DLE20/DLE20RA Prop Recommendations

Looking for your thoughts on a prop larger then 16x8 for these engines on this P-47. I fly at 5300 feet. Would rather not go to 17", so am considering a 16x10 to compensate for thinner air and likely a 'dirty' take-off - partial flaps, landing gear, bomb.

I crashed the H9 P-51 on maiden take-off and may not have had sufficient speed on take-off but could partially have been prop size. As noted in earlier post, my TF P-47 with Saito 150 can easily get into the air with the 16x8 . Even with same hp DLE isn't as strong as the Saito IMO.

Thanks in advance.

Well just a couple final things to finish up and she’ll be ready to fire up and maiden. My Kansas tornado weighs in at 12lbs 14 ounces, this girl will weigh a bit more due to the paint, but I don’t believe a whole lot. I’ll report back with that when I get a chance. I went with a VVRC 20cc paired with the APC 17x8 narrow. Best combo we’ve found so far. Looking forward to getting her up!

Thanks Ag! I just got her balanced and with the two ounces I added to the nose, she came in at 13lbs 3oz. So only 4-5 ozs more than Kansas Tornado. Gonna fire her up in a few, hopefully maiden the next few days I’m off.
