Hangar 9 P-47D Thunderbolt 20cc

A Scale Razorback With Gas or Electric Option

Horizon Hobby has brought back another popular aircraft, and this time it's the famous P-47 Thunderbolt with the Razorback canopy. The Hangar 9 P-47D Thunderbolt 20cc has plenty of scale details and sports a 67" wingspan with a flying weight of 11-13 lbs. Hangar 9 has given the hobbyist options for gas or electric power, with a optional 20cc 2- to 4-stroke engine, or an 1800W outrunner (60-sized and 470kv), 80a ESC, and a 6s 5000mAh to 7000mAh LiPo flight battery.

The P-47 does not come with electric retracts, which are available for $159.99 here, but it does include flaps, and scale details such as panel lines, antennas, and bombs. The Hangar 9 P-47D Thunderbolt 20cc ARF retails for $399.99 and is scheduled to ship in late January.

Needed to Complete:

  • 20cc two- or four-stroke gas/petrol engine or equivalent electric motor system
  • Full-range, 5+ channel transmitter and receiver (6+ for the retract option)
  • 7 Standard-size servos (6 for the electric power option)
  • 2 Batteries for receiver and engine ignition (for the gas power option)
  • Propeller
  • Tools and Adhesives

Not quite giant scale, but it will give you a good feel for it. I have both the predecessor .60-sized green Razorback and the ancient 150-sized giant scale version, and they fly remarkably similar. The Evolution 20GX in the smaller one provides nice power for the size, very strong.

I wonder how close this is the predecessor that I put together back in 2013. Mine was green.

The price is more like 500. I cant stand when they do that crap. Show it with retracts, and not include them. So, its not 350, its 500 retail. Big difference.

And come to think of it....what we pay for some of these things, they are incredibly cheap now. I remember 35 years ago, busting my hump all summer to get an airplane, 4 channel futaba radio, os engine, etc. And that was upwards of 5 bills. And it was basic stuff. It blows my mind that for 150 bucks, i have a 9xr pro on 433 that the range of is mind boggling. And unlike 1995 when we stuffed a bw camera and tx in a telemaster, and viewed it on this tiny bw tv in a truck bed.....hahaha, now....my my my.
Also blows my mind what ive done since a kid, makes me an outlaw.......Ooooooooo.
