North American FJ-1 Fury

The North American FJ-1 Fury was the first operational jet aircraft in United States Navy service, and was developed by North American Aviation as the NA-135. The FJ-1 was an early transitional jet of limited success which carried over similar tail surfaces, wing, and canopy derived from the piston-engined P-51D Mustang. The evolution of the design to incorporate swept wings would become the basis for the (...) F-86 Sabre

wikki says canopy is from P-51D. Photos would suggest otherwise. Possibly from P-51H, but that wouldn't agree with the Fj-1 drawings and photos presented, thus far. Later, sweptwing Fj-2 is definitely more like a P-51H canopy, showing similar profile, and more importantly, a full circular blister x-section.

Great vid of model! BTW Thanks for sharing

Well, there you go. That is definitely not a P-51H canopy. Base frame is quite different.
Thanks for the input.

Combining one of the FJ-1 drawings posted here with a random P-51 drawing makes it look like the canopy itself would be a P-51 shape - but the frame might not be.

I keep going back to differences in transvers canopy section, rather than a profile.
