More progress. Ultracote is pretty nice as a heat gun takes wrinkles out pretty well. But it also will lift covering out of creases and curl covering at edges.

Top wing covered. Getting around some of these curves was difficult.

Hinges

Jasbury, just catching up on this thread, this looks sweet!

I noticed something with your hinges that I haven't seen before please enlighten me.
Have you put the ultracote down around the hinge at the same time glued the hinge into place? Are is the black material around the hinges something else entirely?
I've included one of your images for reference.

Hi onewonders,
Thanks! The black material you see is the same Ultracote covering material. I cut the hinge slots, then test fit and removed the hinges, then applied a small piece of covering over each slot. I was able to cut the covering and test fit the control surfaces without covering much area. I drilled small pin holes where I could apply the CA glue without getting it near the pivot location. Then I glued in the hinge halves. I actually inserted the hinge pins when I glued the hinges. This provided good alignment. I only got glue in one pin. (I am thankful for de-bonder.)

Later on I covered the remainder of the surface and did not have to be extremely precise with the hinges. Still looks clean. I did the same technique for all the hinges on this model. This is the first time I've tried the technique and I am pleased with the result.
