Looks nice Rick. What's the significance of the NC registration? http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinqu...umberTxt=25035

Hi again Dave & fellow followers- I'm still keeping up with the build and thread. I had a few pieces of original AAmco Aeromasters, 2 broken fuse, and an assortment of wings, so I took the best of all the pieces, and got this Aeromaster Too patched together, and covered. I have to install servos, tank, and motor yet, and have a Super Tigre .60 Bluehead I think I'll use. Dave, your pic of ur framed up Aeromaster is beautiful, superb craftsmanship. a couple pics- Dean

Mike, just some excess numbers I had on hand, pure coincidence.

Dave,

If you use a film covering, I'm interested to see how you do the sunburst colors over the open wing structure.

I will start covering this weekend.

Everything lost a bit of weight during the final sanding process of course.

Weights below are for the bare balsa structure. I will weigh everything again after covering, and also after all equipment is installed.

Upper wing 8.0 oz.
Lower wing 8.9 oz.
Fuselage w/tank 27.1 oz.
Tail group 4.7 oz.
Total 48.7 oz. - 3.04 lbs.

One of the details left to do before I can start covering is fabricating the aileron servo mount.

I am using the traditional bellcrank setup and wanted the servo easily removable. This little project required over 8 hours from initial cuts in the wing to final product.

Wing has been cut out. The lower portion of the center ribs were left in place and outboard supports of the same profile are in place to support the lower ply servo mount base.

The servo upper mount base with lower base to check fitment. The lower mount base has 4-40 blind nuts.

Lower base is glued in place along the short balsa spar caps S1 and S2. The servo and upper base are now easily removable by removing the 4 4-40 x 1/4 socket head cap screws. Small washers will be used during final assembly.

Wow, nice work. You are staying true to the original.

I flew mine yesterday about 4 flights. I added one once of lead to the tail to move my CG slightly further back. Not much different but I need almost no down stick pressure when inverted. Boy does she fly good. I also flew until the tank went dry just so would know how to set my timer, she ran out of fuel at about 11 minutes so I set my timer for 10 minute flights. Not bad for a 90 four stroke and 12 oz of fuel

Steve, I am glad to hear your enjoying the Aeromaster! Those are good flight times. We'll see how mine does with the ST60.

Sometimes these forums are like leafing through House Beautiful magazine ... when you get done you just want to go home & throw rocks at all your own stuff.

Quite the opposite here, I find these posts really inspirational. Not that I aspire to such giddy heights (although I do try, honestly I do ... ), but it does make me all the more careful to do the (poor...) best that I can. Keep 'em coming, please..!
