New DS-speeds 200 mph +++ and videos!

We are pleased to report you our new DS-speeds:

Michael Kislat and a DS-SRTL ………………….…… 201.9 mph!
Jens Kleinert and a DS-Caracho …………………… 197.0 mph!
Artur Blφmker and a DS-SRTL …………………….… 200.7 mph!

Date: 11/18/2004
Location: Braunschweig / GER

Wind was about 30 or 35 mph – a very cloudy, rainy day, but good DS - conditions!
It was the very first DS- flight of this special DS-SRTL (the yellow SRTL) – goes very fast and easy - there is still more potential going fast! Info and photos of the DS-SRTL you find here:

http://www.dynamic-soaring.de/dynami...fotos_srtl.htm

We have videos of all runs – in a few days they will be online:

Hi Artur,

30-35mph winds?, cant wait to see the vid. Saw the ds-srtl is a 2.4m wingspan w/t-tail and rg-15 airfoil...how was it? Do you think you will set a new personal best?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan!

It was a lot of fun!! The SRTL goes straight on, I think, no really problem go get ............ 251 mph.....??

The only problem is the wind ......... we need more than 40 mph to go faster than 200 mph!
What we see now - it is possible to fly fast on a really "little hill"!

I am "working" to finish the vids!

Artur,

You guys need a bigger hill!

Do you know if the DS-SRTL is available in the US, or if not how to contact the manufacturer?

Thanks,
Dan

Thank you for your invitation - of course - would be nice to fly with you in CA!

................. but may be .......... I have to stay on bottom to feel domestic ........

Hello guys,

Congratulations on being the first in Europe to break 200mph. Great flying!Thats quite a acomplishment, especially with that hill and flying from the bottom. You guys are crazy! BE CAREFUL though. I have blown up quite a few planes while DSng and every single one of them let go on the bottom turn with the fuselage shooting towards the direction of around where you guys are standing. I'd hate to see you get hurt!
Come out to southern California sometime. You guys would be able to get some great speeds out here!

Great videos too! Keep it up!

Take it easy,

Hi Gary!

We are careful, be sure! We are staying not as close to the circle as it seems to be.

Thanks for your congratulations! If there is enough wind ...... it runs! The new SRTL is easy to control! It was the very first DS-flight with this glider.

Yes - would be very nice to fly in California! May be Vincent is more simply for us ....... "half-bottom-flying"........... :

Where we can find a good online weatherforcast of southern California?

Thanks - Artur

one more 200 mph video!

Got a new very fast run today - 325 km/h / 201,9 mph!
There was really easy flying - not very much wind speed (only 20 to 30 mph), but a good working ds-slope and a good "working" Opus!

The video will be ready in one or two days.

Awsome videos!!! I've wondered where the fastest speeds are being obtained in the DS circle? Most of the US speeds are measured at the top-- coming into the wind shear line-- it appears your speeds were at the bottom--after banking off the shear line. For you experienced DS'rs--- have you done any tests to determine if the top or the bottom is maximum speed?? Congratulations on going over 325KPH!!! That's definitely an accomplishment. And wonder what it's lilke to fly from the bottom.
Good flyin!!
Timmig
