Mine was a Heli-Baby in and around 1977-8. One hover, one forward flight, one tip-over in the water, and that was it. Sigh.......

H995 (xeida 9958 rebrand) still have it, still flies My wife bought it for me as a Christmas present, I was having plank withdrawal in the winter... now the helis are in my hobby room, the planks are in the garage, LOL I just wonder if she would have re-thought that gift if she knew how addicted I would become? the world may never know... but helis are like rabbits 16 and counting... (not including full birds intended to be spares)

First heli was a POS coaxial from fry's electronics. Second was a Blade SR 120 which was still a POS but at least flyable. Biggest issue with that was the battery tray that would break just from normal use.

Third was a Walkera V120D02

Fourth was an HK450 which I learned a lot from. It was a cheap piece of crap but I learned a lot from it and when I totaled it in the end I didn't mind too much because of how little it cost.

From there it has been:

Tarot 450 Sport
Tarot 500
Trex 550
RJX Xtreme 600
KDS Innova 700
Rush 750

Latest is a TSA Infusion 700e which I will be stretching to 800.

JC Designs is working on a gasser based on the TSA Infusion 700N which I have my eye on. Supposedly they are getting together with TSA to sell it as complete kit rather than a conversion. Given the very high commonality of parts within the 600-700 electric and nitro TSA helis I like the idea of having an electric and a gasser that use most of the same parts.

What is implied by "first heli"?
Toy grade or hobby grade?

My first heli, all in all, was a first edition Havoc heli by Airhogs. My first hobby grade heli was the Esky HBV2 .

Cool, I was 15 when I got mine in '82 IIRC.... I got it to fly, but only after I found a Kavan Gyro (the one where you had to drill a hole in the tail servo to connect some wires to the feedback pot) but it took me 3 years and LOTS (and I mean really LOTS) of repairs, before I could get it into forward flight and back safely again.
I had the floats, but also the skids.
Mine flew last about 15 years ago, after I found it again during a house-move.... I could really not believe that I had once been capable of flying it with some confidence.... what a horrible piece of kit....

The one in the front, "Those were the golden days of RC helicopters" , you could buy a brand new car for the cost of one of these in early '70s.

My first helicopter was a second hand Jet ranger that i learned to hover with. I replaced it with a Kalt Baron 60, that I eventually converted to gas. I leant to fly circuits and loop with the Kalts (I bought a second one that was gas stock, called the Baron GS). Still have both of them.
