Question

Acro Wot XL - Electric Conversion?

Has anyone here converted an Acro Wot XL - ARTF to electric propulsion?

Already got a load of 6s 5000mah batteries but not sure if that will give it enough power.

If so, what setup did you use and were there any issues?
Did you make a battery hatch from the canopy?

I haven't done the Acro Wot XL, but just to get the ball rolling I converted my Xtra Wot from glow to electric. I use two 6S 3300 batteries in series to give 12S, a Hyperion ZS-4045/12 motor with 16x10 APC E prop giving just over 2,000 watts. Much better performance then when it was flying with an OS120AX glow engine.

You could use a single 6S pack if you can find a motor that will handle more amps than the 45A that mine draws at WOT.

I made my battery hatch by cutting out the decking on top of where the fuel tank goes in the glow configuration.

Thanks for the info abenn, that is very useful as the Xtra Wot is only 20cm smaller than the AcroWot XL.
