Meet BrainFPV radix

BrainFPV is excited to finally introduce radix, the most innovative line of drone electronics ever made. It is an evolution of the BrainFPV RE1 - our legendary flight controller released in 2016, which is still the only Betaflight flight controller with a full-graphic OSD and was the first flight controller to implement innovative features like SmartAudio video transmitter configuration.

What makes radix the best flight controller?
  • Improved form factor for easier soldering of PDB / 4-in-1 ESC underneath RADIX FC
  • Plug-and-play stacking on RADIX PB or Hobbywing 4-in-1 ESC using soft cables for vibration isolation
  • Graphical OSD - the only flight controller running BF with this feature
  • Customizable OSD logos using the BrainFPV Logo Customizer
  • STM32 F4 processor running at 180MHz
  • Better sensors - Bosch BMI160 gyro, proven on RE1 (pilots are raving about it)
  • Integrated barometer - so you always know how high you are
  • MicroSD card slot for logging
  • Integrated silicone grommets for vibration isolation
  • Dedicated camera control pad for changing camera settings
  • Dedicated RGB LED output for programmable LEDs
  • Four full hardware serial ports (UARTs) - two of them have signal inverters that are automatically enabled or disabled, so they can be used with S.Bus or SmartPort
  • 6 motor outputs with support for DHSOT (150/300/600/1200) and OneShot
  • Up to 8S and 160A support with the radix pb
  • radix pb features 5V (2A) regulator, current and voltage sensing
  • radix pb has 4 integrated programmable RGB LEDs - show your color
  • ESC signal and telemetry wires are soldered to radix pb for cleaner / simpler wiring
  • IR Lap timing with support for I-Lap and Trackmate (needs external IR LED and driver)
  • Supports Betaflight
  • Engineered and tested in the USA

For more information check out the webpage at https://www.brainfpv.com/radix/

Price: $49.99 for radix fc, $19.99 for radix pb. Preorders start Friday December 8, 2017

We currently don't plan to officially support it, i.e., support could be added to dRonin but it would have to be maintained by the dRonin project.

No, unfortunately it doesn't have external I2C

First time drone builder...

I want to make sure I need the radix, the pb, and the 4 in 1 ESC together and is there a wiring diagram?

Not yet.. I'm about to get started making one .

With the radix fc, you either use the pb OR the 4-in-1 ESC. The wiring is quite simple, i.e., receiver and FPV camera are connected to the radix fc.

With the radix pb, you connect the battery and all the ESC's and their signal / telemetry wires to the radix pb and use the included cable to connect the radix pb to the radix fc.

With the 4-in-1 ESC, you just connect the battery and motors to the 4-in-1 ESC and connect the 4-in-1 ESC to the radix fc using the included cable.

Hopefully this will all make much more sense when the diagrams are ready

Oh thats a shame. i thought this would be the FC for my next build but without an I2C outbrake i might have to choose another one...
Is there maybe a way to solder directly on one of the legs of the chip?

No, the pins that could be used for I2C are unfortunately used for other functions

Thank you for the information... I thought that was the case, but I started second guessing.

I have some time before I do my first build. I need to try my Falcore out first (arrives tomorrow).

They dont need an I2C bus to connect to? Only a UART for the GPS and the MAG?
