Yes.
It is one of the first reflows.

Nice! But I still dont get it, how do you do the reflow on the second side of the PCB? The bottom side gets reflown also...?

It depends...
Sometimes it is easier to do it by solder iron, warming up a PCB a little with this plate.
Solder with solder paste (0 min 38 sec)

If you have small smd components from both sides, then just make another side the same way. But you need to put the PCB on small supports, that components doesn't touch the plate (seems I did not have any photo of that). And then set a bit higher temperature, let's say 20 deg more.
Recently I finished an controller for hot air gun, so, now I can help the process wit air hot too.

It is also possible to reflow bigger boards...

This chip is easy QFN packages with gnd pad underneath are really hard, like qfn32 (i.e. RTC6705)... That's the only thing I struggle to solder reliably :/ Too much solder paste, and blob on the gnd pad causes the whole thing to lift, not enough, and you get shorts as gnd pad pulls too closely to the pcb.

Do you have a method how to solder these packages at home? Usually I have to redo the process 2-3 times until it's right. Hot air helps a lot

Yes, these packages is not easy to solder.

What I found is helpful: while pcb design, Im trying to put couple of vias from this gnd pad to other side of pcb if possible.
I know, this is not recommended for mass production, but for me it works.

Also, while applying solder paste, I'm starting from these big pads and trying to use paste as less as possible. If it is too much, then I'm wiping everything and starting again.

EDIT: Ah yes, and often, while reflow stage, i'm touching questionable components with toothstick to see, are they seat good? They should move like on a drop of water. Also try to push a bit these components. Excess solder will go away through via holes.

Or is there any information is missing?

Thanks for reply. I'd like to build one. Where is all the info, ie:schematic, code, controller etc.? Are you offering a kit of parts?
Thanks
Neal

Same here, I'd like to build one also but the github doesn't have any information regarding "other smd components", I guess resistors and caps. Is there a BOM?

@Nobert: Code and parts are in he github link, it's just missing the smd parts

Thanks. Parts are on order.
