Making a Canopy Mold

YES!! I have internet again!! So this is what I started on this weekend and should have it finished by tomorrow. It is for the new scale ship. First I started by shaping just a front end of the plane. I only shaped it close and not to the final shape yet.

Then with a flexible ruler marked out on one side the shape I wanted to cut out on the band saw. This is how it came out.

And final paint and balsa caps. I also glued on some scrap EPP so when I pull the final mold it will have cut out lines and come off easily.

Tomorrow I'll pull a ruff plastic canopy and fill it to make the final resin mold.

Great, now tell us what new planes you have planned!!! We are all dying to know, minus a few lucky "insiders"...

Looks cool Jack, perhaps you should actually tell 'em what the canopy goes to?

It does look cool! And it does look like a super-duper whitewing thing...

But never mind that, tell us about the F-80! You know, the one in the teaser shot of your shop you posted a couple weeks back...

Welcome back by the way, looking forward to the new stuff!

Jack, what kind of paint over the bondo? Flat Krylon?

Thanks,
Duncan

Looks nice Jack. I'm thinking a Dg-800 or a Ventus? What's the span? Looks like around 120" or so, but that's just a guess.

This morning I pulled some plastic over the first mold.

Then I mixed up a batch of Plaster of Paris, flipped the plastic upside down and poured in the mix.

Will you stop teasing and tell us what it is? Otherwise I am going to order an ugly profile plane from France and put the full build thread here, little step by little step!!!
