Really wish they'd modernize the CC01 instead of just throwing new bodies at an ancient chassis with the same issues it's always had.

I mean, c'mon Tamiya. At least add ball-bearing-supported steering to the chassis, if nothing else. And the plastic flexy-links are as terrible today as they were in the 1990s.

Same basic tub with ball-bearing steering and a proper 4-link rear-end and it's a totally different rig. I know this because those parts are available on the aftermarket. As long as this chassis has been around, though, there's no reason for it not to be standard.

How many reworks of the M-series FWD chassis have they had since the mid-90s? So why nothing for the cross-country platform?

the M series is a race kit, the CC is not a race kit. Thats why. Plus these are made to compete with Axial and the other fellows. It just a basher kit around the yard.

However i agree with you, some innovation on the CC platform would be welcomed.
