Cool
Dos Epees a 2M Adventure
I decided to play with something a bit different so here is what I did on Black Friday. It took a couple of hours but I am sure it will be fun when it is done. I sprayed the cores a bright yellow with bright blue wing tips. When done it will be a poly with rudder, elevator and flaps. Should be a ball to fly.
The completed wing is a 1.3m DLG wing. |

No problem Kenda, I am sure we can get one headed your way right after Christmas. I am a bit further along than just wing cores. The mandrels for the booms are in the shop, the pod plug is very close to being done and the tails are designed. A great deal of what I learned while building the Epee is being used in this design.

Here she is all ready for a fuse. This is a rough draft for a 2M wing I am designing. Since it is purely a fun flyer I chose barn doors instead of spoilers. I am really happy with how stiff the wing is and the general shape. If it flies as nice as it looks I will be thrilled. For comparison the plane in the pic is a 1.3M DLG with roughly 268sq in.
I have the plug for the fuse about done and I need to work on the templates for the tail airfoils. |

The fuse I have designed is pretty much a slightly stretched DLG fuse. Well, stretched for me, it will pretty much be the same as a normal sized DLG fuse. The flap servos go in the fuse so no wiring to deal with.

Can you let us in on what the skin and spar makeup is?

That is awesome.
Have you thought of making a powered one? Put a folding prop with a small quad motor and you get to altitude quick |

This one has HL 60 cores, 1.6oz fiberglass skins with some doublers. The spar caps are 4.1 oz Uni carbon with 1 layer on the bottom and two layers on top. The bottom layer is not cut through when the poly brakes are done so it is one continuous piece except in the center.
Woogie, a powered version might be fun. I could easily design a second pod section intended to hold a motor. |
